Builders will fix huts in either version, but in v1.1 they will gain construction skill when they successfully repair a hut. If your About screen says that you have v1.0, then you don't have the v1.1 update.

You can get the v1.1 update from LDW's site, and it uses the same registration code that you are using for v1.0. You may want to finish your current game before installing v1.1, though, since the savegames are incompatible, and v1.1 will delete any v1.0 savegames that it finds.
