Could there be a reason I don't see very many island events? I've completed about 8 of the puzzles. In the time I've been playing, I've only seen like 3 or 4 island events.

Do you pause the game a lot when not playing?

I do pause my game whenever I'm not playing.

The "mask" says to pause whenever you're not playing. I figured it was because I'd miss gathering pieces of the collections. I play almost every day, but there's a lot of time when my boyfriend uses the computer for other stuff.

Thanks for any help you may give me. grin

You may not pause the game when you're not playing but it's better to put it in 1/2 speed or the villagers will become old quickly. If you pause the game each time you're not playing, the events will be very rare! smirk

While the mask tips do advise players to, "Pause the game if you go away for very long," it's actually not advisable to pause the game every time you're not playing. Our games are designed to use the real-time feature, which is how the the game 'continues' when it's off. The most progress is made, and you'll have the most satisfying game experience, if you use 1/2 speed, rather than pausing the game, when you'll be away for less than a day. If you frequently pause the game, you will see a reduction in the number of Island Events, because the game cannot generate a scheduled Island Event when the game is paused (so it will be skipped).

I think the mask says something along the lines of "Pause the game if you're going to be away for some time." I believe by that it means some days or weeks, not a matter of hours. Although in the early game it's wise to pause it during the period when the villagers are struggling to get established. Later on, especially if the food supply is assured, you can afford to leave the game running in real time.

If you're still feeling cautious, try dropping to half speed, or normal speed if you were running in 2 X speed, when the game is off.
