I downloaded My Tribe. I kinda liked it. It asks you if you want people to have babies. Some people have been asking for that in VV4.

By the way, "escape from paradise is really a boring game in my opinion, I can't play it as long as i play VV (I play it every day, when my grandson sleeps) I'm a game addict, so I have, believe it or not almost 500 original game cd, some of them I don't even play anymore. So, don't worry about other virtual games, quality is something that calls your attention at the first time! I only miss some animal on VV series, I do a lot, that's why I bought the three of them, trying to find some animals on it.If anyone can help me to this, know about virtual animals game to play, please tell me.Thanks in advance, rebakan

I can now say that I've tried My Tribe. I've tried to keep an open mind, and I have to say that I like both My Tribe and Virtual Villagers. Maybe not equally or for the same reasons, but they're both good games.

So I found myself a long demo (lasting for almost two weeks rather than an hour), and I played the game until my demo was up. In my open and honest opinion, it was not all that entertaining. Yes, I might seem to be a little extra critical, but it is more because I am a demo player, than anything else. That means that a game needs to catch my attention in 15 minutes or LESS in order for me to continue playing. Regardless of this, because I wanted to give an opinion of the whole game, I played longer (much longer than I would have). My Tribe was like a scaled down version of Virtual Villagers but seriously lacked VV's pizazz. Its simplicity felt like a game that I would give a young child to play. It required very little thinking on my part in order to maintain the island, the tribe, and to solve the mysteries. The game lacked the intensity that time management activities would have provided. There wasn't any pressure to get anything done. They were easily fed and sheltered, and the clues to the mysteries were practically given to you. Everything was as simple as picking up the Stardust and Moondust off the ground. If you had them and used them, your people had to do very little work if any at all. Without the dusts I had to set my people on tasks. Granted, as soon as I set a tribe-member on a certain skill they would do it. However, if they were set to multiple tasks, they would either work for nearly 3 full seconds on a task and then rotate (and yes, I counted it with a timer), or just ignore one of the tasks I set for them. If I wasn't paying attention to how many tasks I set for each member, or just who was doing what, I could easily have twenty or more tribes-people wandering about the island, doing very little. I could leave the game on for days and not touch it (did that one too) and there wasn't much chance of anything bad happening. Don't get me wrong, once when I did that, my fishers and farmers decided not to fish or farm because they were also checked off to do other work. Because of it, I found that one of my tribe-members had just died of starvation before I reopened the game. The repetitiveness of the game was almost unbearable. The thought message at the top of the screen was often in my way and had nothing to do with how the game was going to play out, with the exception of when they were tired. I got wary of searching out crates and barrels (the only source of events in the game), and fishing newborn babies out of the ocean. After playing this game, I am now on the side of letting the moms nurse for 2 years or whatever LDW sets it to next. I hated seeing newborn babies roaming around without care, especially swimming in the ocean unsupervised, and they weren't even useful in the game. Not to mention, once a mother had a child, you had to somehow know who she was for the game's next two years if you wanted her to have more kids. It was frustrating to try dropping men and women together only to discover that 'she's not ready yet'. I can go into more detail if someone wants me to, but I've already written more than I intended to in this first post.

Tried it hated it simple as that.
Really it`s insanely repetitive and it just rips off anything about it that`s intresting from VV.

I've been looking over the posts here at LDW, and have noticed all the disagreements between many of us over the My Tribe game. I would like to extend a heartfelt apology to anyone who became offended by our protest on this forum. It was meant to be a peaceful means of getting the attention of game-sellers and game developers, and spreading the word, while allowing us as mere players to tell our view, hopefully, without coming across as hateful or offensive. I suggest that we take the time now to put all our disagreements aside and openly talk about what we like and don't like about both VV and MT. I think this will be a great learning experience for all of us. Everyone's thoughts are welcome, and I encourage ( as I have done so in the past) the discussion of My Tribe right here in this thread. After all Arthur did say that we could discuss it, and other games as well. If you liked it, please feel free to speak up and tell the rest of us what you liked about it, feel free to point out the differences between MT and VV, and so on! I only ask that you would please grant a little room to those of us who didn't like it, whether on principle or mere gaming likes. And those who are protesting should also give the same room for thought, considerately in return. I hope that sounds good to everyone, and I look forward to a great discussion.

HP, as typical, I agree with you sentiments. You make a very kind effort toward reasonable discourse. I still haven't played MT enough to make many comparisons...I've only played the demo I did see some obvious similarities in...how do I explain...the preference bars, intro and whatnot, and some dissimilarities...graphics and "enhancements" such as ability to select multiple tasks, birthing and such. VV is an "open-ended" game and MT, from what I've read is a game with a definitive ending. Personally, I've become accustomed to open-endings though admittedly...it confused me at first But the likes and dislikes I mostly wanted to share are these... I really like several Grubby gamers. Though the meeting was less than ideal for some, the folks at Grubby can be very nice...and generous! I have won two free games from the forum...well, they're just giveaways...it doesn't take much to win and have received what little help I've needed easily. They seem to have a genuine interest in moving past any upset and are very willing to make new friends I like that. And the developer has been responsive in queries both PM and posting. My dislike is as it has been...the battle between gamers. And this is pure speculation but...I think the idea to implement VV ideas into MT was really an attempt to expand on what the developer saw as a good idea. I realize many feel the similarities were "too close for comfort" and while I'm willing to let those more qualified than me hash that out, I haven't gotten the impression that this was a malicious attempt to deprive LDW. I'm sure the responces Grubby received has caused at least some opportunity to ponder those choices themselves. I, too, look forward to discussion...just out of my own curiousity...about similarities, dissimilarities, likes and dislikes...MT is still a bit of a mystery to me. (I could've picked it as a free game but felt awkward considering the circumstance so I picked Prof Fizzwizzle which has nothing to do with islands and seems a neat kid-friendly strategy game.) But I wanted to ask if you mind if I share your heartfelt words with others to encourage discussion and healing?
