emri, you have to cut down the trees to make room for buildings.

I played the trial hour of this game from BFG and it was reasonably enjoyable, so I bought it - $6.99 with game club. While there are SOME similarities to VV (you have a tribe of people and you have to look after them - and SOME of the stuff they do is similar), there are also just as many differences.

I actually find it reminds me more of Escape from Paradise than VV - and I found that game incredibly boring! My Tribe is better. Better than VV? Worse than VV? Not necessarily either. It's DIFFERENT to VV.

I like that you're not stuck on the one island - you can build a ship and go to others. I like that you can cut down trees and harvest rocks and then replace them, and build as many houses as you like wherever you like. I LOVE that mothers don't nurse their babies for two years (be honest - how many people have asked that of LDW and it's been passed over?) As a tradeoff, they have to wait 2 years to have their next baby, but at least they're doing something in those 2 years.

This is a forum that's loyal to LDW. So of course most people here will say they prefer VV. And that's ok. What's NOT ok is to tell other people not to play this game. Let people decide for themselves, and don't make them ashamed to admit they play it or even that they like it.

I hate dealing with companies that try and draw people in by rubbishing their competitors. If I were a My Tribe fan and wanted to check out VV because someone said I'd like it, and I came here, what I'm seeing in these discussions would not make me want to come back. LDW would have just lost a new customer.

I won't go so far as to say I'm enjoying the game - it's a distraction, and not much more. Something to do when I have a spare 10 minutes. I got it for $7.00 so it's been money well spent for me. But above all, it's not going to stop me buying LDW's NEW game for the FULL price when it comes out, or VV4 when that's available either.

There's room in this world for everyone smile
