NEW (BETA) VERSION

HERE is a new version of VST that should be immune to that strange updating-the-stats bug that legs3246 and others have mentioned.

this version will work with the files made from the previous version of VST.

in addition, if you lost seeds in the past, and have a backup copy of the .vst file, or if you did not use VST to save new seeds since losing seeds, this version has a good chance of being able to recover those seeds.

although the change in the program was minor, this is still a new version. so consider this a beta-test version, and consider yourself a beta-tester for the first few weeks. \:\)

while i don't expect anyone to have any problems, if anyone does lose any seeds with this new version, please leave a note here or in the other VST thread. also, if you try out the program and don't have any problems, leave a note to that effect. If a few people report no problems over the next few weeks we can consider this bug squashed. \:\)

thank you.

sincerely,
-borg

ps: heartfelt sympathies to senator kennedy, his friends, and family.

no need to delete anything. the new version works with the trays created by the old version. just overwrite the old .exe with the new .exe and you should be fine smile

at what point did you get that message? i don't recall ever seeing that error message. can you take a screenshot of that error? i'm not sure if the root file it can't find has something to do with .NET or something to do with not finding the PT save files or something to do with something else. when did you get the error? trying to run the program? did the program download OK from box.net? if it did not download well from the link above, you can download it from the bottom of this thread in the guide section:

Updated Virtual Seed Tray By Borg

in that thread you will also find instructions for using the program as well as screenshots of the program.

btw, for some reason, for the last few weeks the last screenshot in that thread is listed as text:

"[img]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/VirtualBorg/VST22.png[/img]"

instead of showing the picture:

if you need help taking a screenshot and posting it here we can teach you, it is pretty easy. in fact i think there is a thread somewhere around here that goes over how to do it in great detail.

The reason there is text is because there is a color called "0000000" before the M. Correct this and the picture will return smile

i'm not sure if you meant that to be humorous or if you were serious so i will explain it as though you are serious.

in the original thread that has the problem,

Updated Virtual Seed Tray by Borg

there is no color change to"000000" (000000 is black) before the m. the line is correct in that thread, yet the forum does not display the photobucket picture as it should. i believe this is because there are a number of pictures already in that thread, and the forum software must now have a limit as to how many pictures a single response can contain.

back to my response above. i needed to find a way to fool the forum into displaying the text

"[img]http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s226/VirtualBorg/VST22.png[/img]"

instead of embedding the photobucket picture.

to accomplish this, i broke up the "img" tag by telling the forum to display the m in "img" using color 000000 (black). since the default color of the text in this forum is already black, by inserting the UBB instruction to display the m in black, the human eye would not notice anything different about the m.

so if the "img" looks the same to me and you with or without that color change, why do it? well, the effect of this is to make the forum display the line as text. by breaking up the img tag, the forum no longer thinks the line is an instruction to embed a picture.

if i had not put something there to interrupt the line, such as a color change to black, the forum software would have embedded the photobucket picture. this is the case in the response above, under the line with the color changed m, where i typed everything exactly the same but without the color change to black.

with the img tag intact, the forum does not display the text but instead, correctly embeds the picture.

So after I won the game I made a copy of my files, Then I updated my stats to see if I would lose seeds in my virtual seed tray again. Yep they were gone after the update of stats. Not to worry I had a copy of the game saved.
