We at LDW have decided that we don't want that kind of thing in the SB, because of the effect it has on everyone (visitors, members, and LDW). The problem is that the moment somebody shouts something random, the chaos begins and grows. It's disruptive, drives people away from the SB and even our site, and takes too much time and effort to manage. We want people to have fun, but in a positive, real-life way.

If it starts to be a problem again when the SB comes back, we will have to make some tough choices, which I'm sure nobody wants.

I just want to add to this thread. I myself have tried to say hello in the Shout box a few times. But really felt like i was intruding. So, i stopped. And, to be honest i kinda felt badly. I had no idea what was going on and wasn't interested because it looked like gibberish. Sorry, that's just my experience.

And if people want to 'throw pies' at each other, can't they just pm it? Just an idea...

I just don't understand the concept of PMing someone to throw a pie, etc. IMHO, the forums belong to LDW and so does the server that holds all of this including the PMs. I don't want to start having problems getting into the forums because the server is filled up with stupid nonsense. Shouldn't the users who want to throw pies, etc. use their own email or another source?

Some users don't want their email/IM ID to be plastered all over the forums...

In fact, the PMs are causing a problem for forums backups, among other things. If people are using PMs for private games, they need to be deleting them regularly.

I find some PMs quite annoying. I try to stay in them but with the constant NONSENSE posts, I'm unable to stay. For example, if a PM is about something, leave it to that.

The problem is that a PM isn't really deleted until the last person deletes it, so I suspect that a lot of very large PMs are still in people's message boxes.
