I would like to say that as a prospective buyer of this game for Windows, I would not like to see violent events. Distress events are okay - otherwise, where's the challenge? There are several very very good ideas in the thread - I particularly liked the weather event ideas and the teaching skills ideas. There's really no need to resort to violence-based events. There won't be violent events.
I love most of these ideas, however! You guys are brilliant.

I got one - alien abduction! They could then be released a few days later either with a horridly contagious space disease (Quatermass-style) or with random enhanced abilities.
We don't need 4400 of them though.

More good things. Bad things suck. Maybe make one of them have twins. Or one of them the head person, like the president or cheif of the clan and they can fight him for leadership if they feel they are stronger and can win in different catagories or something like that.

Hi everyone, this is my first post.
I love ‘Village Sim’ and cannot wait for it to be released for the desktop.
Having played it on my handheld I have some suggestions. Fellow members may have already mentioned elsewhere.
EVENTS 1) NIGHTS: it would be nice to have periods of darkness, may be moon lit, when everyone goes to rest. With roosters crowing at dawn? Maybe asking too much? 2) RAIN/STORMS: Judging by the picture, it will be a tropical island. Rain would be a natural occurrence. There are a lot of rain dancing, but never any proper rain, which is a shame. 3) DROUGHT: periods of hardships for which the villagers may need to be prepared. 4) FEASTS: village feasts to celebrate good harvests or a big catch from the sea. 5) DOMESTICABLE ANIMALS/BIRDS: discovered on the island or arrives in barrels.
SKILLS
FARMING/DOMESTIC: a) Would like to see them learn to build fire, for cooking. This could be at a higher level, especially when they learn to fish. b) Learning to climbing trees (coconut palm) to collect coconuts for food and drink. c) Learning to go out in boats for deep sea fishing (see below) and bring in exotic catches. d) Learn to build some form of irrigation from the creek to their crop patches.
BUILDING/CONSTRUCTION: a) Other than huts, I would like to see them build a healing house, workshop and a granary, as part of their higher skills. b) I would like the children to be apprentice in the workshop from age 12ish –16, instead of just running around that they do at present. c) Granaries to store their harvest, in preparation for drought etc.; with a way of keeping a % score of grains stored. d) To be able to build paths/bridges to be able to explore/cultivate/fish and live all over the island. e) Boats: Oh they need to be able to build boats. They are islanders, for god’s sake. With boats they can i) go fishing ii) visit/discover neighbouring islands iii) just sail away into the sunset
HEALING: a) The healers with increasing knowledge could collect herbs and ‘do research’ to make and store medicines. b) Run the healing house for the sick villagers till they are better and strong.
SPIRITUALITY c) Would like to see spirituality as a separate skill category; after all we are already buying Tech levels. d) There could be Trainee Priest and Master Priests e) The Priests could have responsibility of holdings feasts and festivals, conduct ?weddings and burials. f) Do ‘effective’ rain dances. g) Use the temple for festivals. It would be nice to see him calling his “flock” from the temple. h) Grow flower gardens and collect flowers i) Honor the dead, the idol and the temple.
GOLDEN CHILD: I am not certain I would like to have this character whose purpose I still do not understand. I prefer a village build on practicality and reality. a) I would not mind if the birth of the miracle child is related to very specific criteria, (like the present Puzzle 12) that not all may be able to predict or work towards. b) That he then grows up with some special mystic powers and performs some deeds which no one else can. (at present I could only make him walk on water)
FINALLY DISPOSAL of villagers For this they need to be able to build boats. It is horrible to think that death is the only way out for the villagers. Why don’t we have the option of a) Colonising neighbouring islands; they could initially go out in boats to neighbouring islands for foraging and farming, eventually constructing residential huts and staying building satellite colonies, which can then be played in a similar way; adding instant variety. b) These colonies though separate would still return to the island if their food ran out, if their ill could not be ‘healed’ and brought to the healing house. For festivals. Or to find partners if they ran out of men/women as time goes on. c) Sailing away to faraway lands- a humane way of reducing the population, but still keeping the game going for ever and ever and ever- which to me is vitally important.
And please, I hope it does not become too politically correct.
I did not mean my post to be so long. But every time I switch on Village Sim, I just keep thinking, “wish this or that was possible or would happen”. I reckon this is my only chance to ask for a fantastic game.
I know what I will write to Santa for this Christmas. Can’t wait.

I got an idea!
You know how we have a screensaver for the Windos version of Fish Tycoon? How about having a screensaver from Village Sim, but is shows the village at night? So there would be a camp fire, a few villagers dancing, light in the windows of the huts, some jungle-drum music and water lapping on the shore.
No need for there to be a day/night cycle in the game itself then.
