Great ideas, I like the idea of snow and all. That sounds like fun!

I think holiday would be neat too, especially if there were some kind of decorations the villagers would wear that day or some visual cue (decorations on the idol?). The problem is that the years go by so quickly that annual events would happen every time you turned on the Palm! Maybe the holiday would be avery 10 years??

Wow! So many good ideas already! Hmmmm...I always hate the bad events like debris washed up the shores, food washed away completely by the storm and food became moldy! I prefer those events where I have a say in deciding what to do, eg. to drink or discard the content of the red, blue or yellow bottle.

Can we have some animals or pets being washed up the beach, so we get little animals running around. The villagers can decide to turn them away or keep them. Bearing in mind that pets will need to eat as well. So it's a choice kinda thing.

I too like the idea of huts or built structures being struck down or destroyed by lightning, so that the villagers can get busy restoring them. But don't make it happen too often. It should have a long gap between these incidents. Well, my current game just undone all my huts and any other projects done by the builders with no apparent reasons, so my builders are busy working on them now. Sigh.

I also like the festival celebrating idea. Currently the GC just decide to host a party for no reason and everyone joins in. If there are some special occasions, say New Year or whatever, then it's more fun to see them celebrating.

On second thought, why not celebrate when a new babe is born and when a kid comes of age as well? And I'd really love to see them get new clothes.

An idea for extra skills (not for random events): weaving of clothing or something similar, so that the villagers will have new clothes to wear during festivals and so on. You need some people to do this specifically.

I like magical events like the fish of fertility that bring their Fertility level up one level and so forth. How about something washed up to the shore and the positive outcome is the field of crops became ripe for harvesting. The negative outcome may be bringing locusts that destroys the crop or some other kind of bad things that happen to the food source. I won't suggest the sea getting poison because that's real tough!

I like to have events with a choice, too! That way you have only yourself to blame if things turn out badly! It would also be nice to have Island Events that would have a more permanent effect, although they would definitely be more involved to include in the game. Some examples of that can be seen in the alternatives below.

Here are a couple that could work in a manner similar to existing ones that offer both a choice and (possibly) a random outcome:

One of your scientists is working on fertilizer for the crops. One of the other researchers working at the crowded table accidentally knocks over a bowl and it spills into the fertilizer mixture. Use it anyway? No: the usual better safe than sorry, perhaps even losing research points because of the lost experiment. Yes: 1) a bumper crop that adds food to the bin 2) the new fertilizer permanently increases the amount of food that your farmers obtain from the crops (maybe 1 unit per trip?) 3) it's toxic to the crops and it reduces the crop (or all the crops die until the next cycle - if you're feeling really mean).

A farmer discovers some seeds while foraging. Plant them? No: The usual better safe than sorry Yes: 1) Weeds - inedible (possibly damaging the crops during weeding and reducing food supply) 2) Fruit trees grow and become another food source (obviously requires more programming and graphics) 3) A lovely crop of <whatever> grows and adds to the food supply (and the villagers rejoice).

Here's an idea for a choice event: a pretty flower in the magic garden bears a strangely colored berry.

Leave the berry alone: increases the chances of this event happening in the future (cumulative with each occurence)After all - berries lead to seeds, right?

Eat the berry: the villager gets very ill, requiring a doctor to heal them. Possibly more than once. Once the villager is healed however, he/she has spontaneously changed genders!

For a twist, an identical event could have different outcomes, for example:

Leave it alone: the berry falls off, sprouting roots and growing into a clone of the villager (perhaps in the opposite gender)

Eat it: Villager gets very ill.

How about pets? The village seems incomplete without animals running around. I love pets too!

When the Idol is completed, how about some kinds of worship ritual and depending on some circumstances...something good (good crops) or bad (bad weather) would happen?

No island survival genre game is complete without cannibals. They could snatch kids and force the islanders to have to protect them in some way. Perhaps a school situation.

More good ideas! Cool! So when will they be implemented? lol

Adding onto the idea of some kind of worship rituals around the idol (other than honouring the idol), why not have some rituals or activities around the restored temple as well? It can be started by the GC! Once it is restored, the villagers don't do anything there anymore, which is kind of wasting the graphics if you ask me!

Same for the cave - why not let some doctors study it and builders excavate it somemore? After some time, let them bring out some artefacts that may bring good or bad fortune to the villagers! And the doctors with more answers about the history of the ex-habitants of the island.

Adding onto the idea of a school - why not have it when a particular Master wish to conduct teaching, all kids and/or trainees will gather around him/her in the centre of the village or somewhere? And if he is a Master, the students will all have added skills after the teaching - may be a few % will do.

Btw, do the women still only breed with one male while men breed with many women in v1.1? I think this may not be as true in tribal cultures.

I wish there is more to do once we solved all 12 puzzles and obtained max village population and gathered more than a few hundred years of food. Something to keep the villagers busy - say art and pottery?
