As many of you already know, Village Sim is coming to desktop. We thought we would take this opportunity to take suggestions from our community for new island events that could be put into the game!

In case you are not familiar with Village Sim, island event are random things that occur to your villagers, such as a barrel full of food (or RATS!) washing up on the beach.

Feel free to post your ideas here, and who knows--maybe you'll see your ideas happening in your own village when the game is released!!

I had always thought (coming from Texas)that an event could be: "it's been 110 on the island for 30 days straight and your crops have died."
or the flowers in the field have died and you have to rewater to get them again.

Swarm of locusts sounds pretty fun... or maybe a hurricane? a tsunami? a volcano? The event actually being animated in the game would be cool, too, but not sure if that's in the cards.
Maybe another boat could wreck on the island and bring more people from other places. That may spice up my couples a little (almost all the villagers are inbred...)

Hmmm... what about shark attacks for the farmers that are fishing, pirates that take food and/or people (or give food), a freak snow storm that kills off the berries or crops, a villager finds a rare medical plant which increases their healing.... I'll post more when I think of more

What about lightning hitting on something currently being constructed (not something already completed), and then they have to start the contruction of the item over again.

Also what about have the villagers getting broken bones and that puts them out of work for a bit (just like when the women have babies, they can't do anything).

What about a wonderful thing happening like you will never run out of food again?

I think good things are way better than catastrophic things. I have enough trouble getting through it as it is. Maybe a choice to have bad or good things in the options?

I hope that there will be SNOW, RAIN, NIGTH. These events will add more interesting events to the island (like villagers frozen and more healing tech is required before winter, a cough or something)

Ooh! Ooh! Suggestions! I loooove giving suggestions!

One Island Event - or rather several - I'd like to see are holidays! A pop-up window would appear giving the name of the holiday, and the villagers would engage in group activities.

The most obvious example of a group activity is the golden child's dance party. You know, when he/she goes to the center of the village and everyone dances? well, make it a pop-up worthy event and call it the Golden Child Festival, or something.

Here are some others:

Group siesta - everyone takes a break from working, sitting at the village center or in the garden - or both - and their action dialog says "siesta" - The pop-up would possibly call it a day of rest.

Religious Holidays - at regular intervals the villagers could gather at a designated spot like the idol, the boulder or the lagoon and dance - their action dialog would say something like "Celebrating Boulder Moving Day" - well, insert your own holiday, there.

Religious services - Everyone honors the idol

Memorial - Everyone honors the dead

Summer Time! - Everyone goes swimming (and maybe eats at the food bin)
