If this has been discussed before I am sorry. I did a search.

When the villagers first arrive and the population is 8, when the baby reaches 2 you find his father is the only male. ( Is this the case only 1 male per arrival?
I have only ever had one male and 3 female adults, in every game I have started.)

In one of my original games (I had to delete when I upgraded to V1.0.4) a male arrived by canoe who was a builder which helped for making babies.

But not at present with these 2 tribes.

My question if it is why are we not told who the parents of the 2 other children and the teenager are?

This makes it kind if difficult for the women, as I can only be sure the man is father of definitely 1 and possibly 2 of the children in both tribes.
1 will be nature, 1 magic.

With my 2 tribes at present only about 2 years into game, the I have decided that in both tribes the the baby and oldest child, (not the teenager,) are siblings.
Hair colour etc.
But the middle child in each tribe may be a child of one of the other women. (Hair colour etc.)
But that leaves the other women and the teenager, (head female 11 in both tribes.) having to share the male if I want them to be JOAT's!!!

But...I kind of now want to play a family based game.
And list in a notebook who is whose parent. Do like a tree!

So as the kids get older I would need to be careful about baby making.
I do not want inbreeding!!

In one tribe the male is the only male, all the children were girls.
So, I can keep the mother pregnant to increase the population and hope for a boy for the girl that is not her's, but the other 2 women would then remain childless in the game unless I get an event like the canoe.
The other tribe I have a boy so that makes it a bit easier and OK for him to make a baby with one of the other girls when he/she are old enough.

So basically I wish we were told who the parents of the 2 children and the teenager were so I do not have any inbreeding!!

The gender mixture of a new tribe is random, and it's just coincidence that your tribes have had only one adult male. The parents are not listed for the children, because none of the adults in your tribe are their parents. If you want to have a family-based tribe, you can simply start with the information that is provided: the baby is the child of the two parents in its details screen, and the rest of the villagers are unrelated.

Yes, I've had a couple of tribes where there's only been one adult female to start with. Luckily at least two of the children have been girls; although, as Barbara says, since it's random, I could have got all males bar the nursing mother.

Here's a thought, just pretend all the children are from different families...it's all made up and just a game after all ( \:o what?! hehe)

Having a family tree within the game is one way to play it, I've done it a few times and it's fun to see how families turn out in the end.

BUT you have to remember, there are no actual genes involved, so I wouldn't worry so much about the inbreeding thing at the start. A perfectly normal little villager will pop out Every time no matter who breeds with whom.

Just take it as read that the first baby born is in a family, and the rest of the children are just part of the tribe and can breed with whoever they choose when they turn 18.

I know --but well some us do take it seriously!! Only joking.

But the thought of 2 little kiddies and a 14 year old leaving their Mum and Dad and family behind, and leaving with the adults makes me sad.

For my first tribe, I had just 1 male adult and it was hard to get some different families. Now, if it's like that again or in the opposite situation, I restart the tribe until I get a tribe that's well "equilibrate" in gender! \:\/

I've never seen a 14-year-old in the starting set of villagers. The youngest I've seen has been 19, apart from the two kids, of course. Or does it change with the level of difficulty, perhaps? I play almost all my games on "Easy".

Game difficulty doesn't factor into the determination of the starting villagers. There is a random element to the exact makeup of the starting villagers, but the game should never start with a 14-year old. There will always be 2 kids under 10 years old and 5 adults age 19 or older (one of whom is a nursing mom).

Yeah it is sad at first, but it turns out ok for them in the end - they are the start of a new tribe and as long as you look after them and train them they'll be the basis for probably hundreds of years of Isola heritage \:D

They are the future mothers and fathers of All the villagers to come in your game, and so I think the families they left behind would be proud.

*chokes back a tear* - tee hee ;\) \:D

My teens were 14!
After 5 Isola years when I completed a puzzle they were 19.
