It's not like the Titanic sank but...
We had a power outage the other night. Got back on and paused my game. Yesterday I got a new orchard which seemed strange but all was going well until the clock jumped and I had no food, everyone was weakened and dropping like plague victims. I suspect there had to have been some glitch in the computer clock..the only good thing was that the bath got finished in record time...like 5 minutes.

I did a search and this was the closest thread I could find for my question. It doesn't fully answer it though.

If the game had not been immediately paused, would it have continued as though nothing had happened?

Yeah it sounds like your system clock got confuzzled which in turn confuzzled your vv game! Not good!

My titanic (hehe) tragedy was when my computer started randomly shutting down and it wouldn't stay on long enough to pause my games!!! So, it got sent away for a week to have the heatsink replaced (I think!). I got given a temporary loan laptop and just my luck, vv3 was released! Why couldn't they have held off for a week?! Anyway, I got my computer back, downloaded vv3 and, after about an hours playing I realised I needed to check my vv1 and vv2 games eek! Luckily, my vv2 game had paused itself for some reason, it might have been an island event, but my vv1 game was down to 2 females so I decided to start a new tribe.

The system clock would be a visible change, though. Most people use their system clock while they're on the computer in windows. I think if it was mis-set, Bridie would have known . . . . it does SOUND like a system-clock problem, but the game only uses the clock when it boots up; it doesn't matter if the clocks confused when it's not running, and is corrected before it starts.

Strange, though, that a three-month old thread could suddenly become relevant again. \:\)

If you have a power outage, the game will simply reload from the last save, which it does every few minutes, and load the game back up, and fill in the intervening time. If it was paused during the save, that's okay. If not, well, you're hosed. Just like closing it down manually, except that it doesn't do that one extra save during shutdown, so it relies on a periodic autosave.

A little clarification is in order here. Whether the topic has suddenly become relevant or not, correcting misinformation is always in order.

The game uses the computer's system clock at all times when it's actively running, not just when it boots up. A sudden jump in the system clock is quite plausible, since most operating systems regularly compare the system clock to an Internet time standard and adjust it if it's incorrect (which it could easily be after a power failure). That doesn't happen immediately upon boot up. I've thoroughly tested what happens when the clock is changed while the game is running, and it's often dramatic.

I suppose I misinterpreted, thinking that the power outage was being blamed for changing the system clock, rather than considering the auto-correction to be to blame. More closely reading the original post, I'm probably mistaken . . . well, wouldn't be the first time.

So this is what happened to me. I had two games going and I had finished all of the puzzles on both games but my tribe that was doing better with food and tech points now has no puzzles solved. I still have all the tech bought. So I have to rebild all of huts, bath, cave, graveyard and the statue. I still have my collections up the point I had before I lost of my solved puzzles. Does any one know what might of happened????
