I have a few of questions about the medicines that I hope some people can answer:

1) When it says "one drop every half hour until cured", is that a real-time clock, or a fishy clock? i.e. if you run at 2x speed, should you only wait 15 minutes, or if 1/2 speed wait an hour?
2) What happens if you don't wait the full 30 minutes? Does it not take effect, or just not at full strenght?
3) Likewise, if you wait much longer than the 1/2 hour?
4) Is dropping medicine in a tank without any sick fish harmful, or does it help prevent sickness?
5) Is there a problem (when there are both types of sick fish in a tank) to drop one medicine and then immediately buy the other and drop that?

I really wondered about those kinds of things when I first started playing Fish Tycoon (a million years ago)!
Most people simply do what Buttoneer suggested:

Quote:

The Ick treatments will also just work if you blast the tank with the stuff. the instructuions talk about 'every half an hour' but I find no such delay necessary.

I never wait at all before administering repeated doses, since I usually run the game at fast speed, and sick fish continue to lose health until they're cured. There is some degree of finesse possible in treating fish, if your 'aim' is good, that will (in general) require fewer doses of medicine, but it can get frustrating finding exactly the right spot to drop the medicine to effect a first-time cure. Precision-oriented people who like a challenge can go for the 'medicine sweet spot' to see the fungus or ick cured on the first try. It requires precise positioning, and there can be nothing in front of the fishie to be treated, or you'll fail in your attempt.

Dumping medicine of either kind into a tank of healthy fish appears to do no harm, but it's probably not preventative, either.

Thanks! It's good to know that the wait really isn't necessary... That way I can try for quicker cures before leaving the tank for extended periods (without resorting to stopping time...)

I have managed the first time cure a few times, it does seem to help that the crimson comet is in the tank, but I'll remember about watching for nothing in the way.

I wanted to post a follow-up... In my third game (out of five) I finally bed my last Magic Fish, but at the same time two of the tanks had many sick fish (despite the fact that the "nursery" now had several Magic Fish of Healing!)

I collected all of the sick fish together in one tank, and it took three doses of the Ick treatment, and 9 doses of the fungal treatmeant to cure them all. That would have taken several hours if I had to wait a 1/2 hour between each dose! Thanks again for the tip!

Now I have another question:

Can you drop the medicine into the isolation tank? I'm thinking that if you have only one sick fish left, it might be easier to to find the "sweet" spot that way.

(I'll try it myself the next time I have a lone sick fish.)

The medicine dropper cannot be moved to the isolation tank, but the medication will be applied to a sick fish that is placed there (as well as to any sick fish in the main tank).

"Precision-oriented people"... she means anal, like me.

Barbara, I did find one exception to this method... quite by accident, and under total frustration chasing a sick fish around with a dropper. I don't know if it always works, but in the second tank, if they go behind the big rock, you can cure them by dropping the medicine on the edge of the rock. Go figure. Maybe the rock has a sweet spot as well.

So, Brenda, does that mean that we should put all of our sick fish into Tank 2, wait until they go behind the rock, and then drop the medicine in that "sweet spot" on the rock? I'll have to try that!

lol! Actually, that would make an interesting experiment! Just imagine, curing as many sick fish that can fit behind that rock, with just one drop!

Then again, trying to keep all the fish behind the rock would be just as frustrating.

You're "precision-oriented" - I'm sure you could figure out a way to do it!
