Parenting/inheritance

New player, been doing it about three days, up to the point where I'm trying to fix the statue. I've got a few questions...
1) What does a development in the parenting skill do for you? Obviously it can help you become an elder or jack-of-all-trades, but does it have any direct effect? Does it raise children faster, make the person more fertile, or perhaps help the children learn/inherit skills?
2) How do you know if/what a child will inherit? What can you do to increase the likelihood? I've tried making babies several times with parents masters of several traits and found that no skills were passed on. Does the skill need to be maxed out or do you just get some skills to master and hope for the best (a roll of the dice for inheritance).
3) Any idea what the quantitative increases are in scientific research as far as % for each level? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to go for science first or to go to the essential things I need first (restoration/medicine).
4) What's the best way to make someone have triplets? I've tried giving fertility potions to both with no luck, does parental skill or age play into this?
Thanks for the help...

I do know for a fact that skill has nothing to do with it. In fact in fan art there is a post where a womans first set of babies were trips. But u make a point DOES age play?

1) What does a development in the parenting skill do for you?
I believe that it increases chances of successful conception, as well as chances of triplets and twins.
2) How do you know if/what a child will inherit? What can you do to increase the likelihood? It's a roll of the dice, as far as I can tell - many times, you get nothing at all. Better not to rely on this, and when you get leadership 3, have children in batches, so you can teach every group at least once.
3) Any idea what the quantitative increases are in scientific research as far as % for each level? No sure of the math, but it HAS been worked out before. If your goal is 50,000 tech points, it's been proven by math that it's more efficient to buy the first level of science, first. Any less than that and it'll probably be faster to get. Medicine is not particularly critical though - it helps fertility, healing, lifespan, but isn't as critical as, say, more food.
4) What's the best way to make someone have triplets? I've tried giving fertility potions to both with no luck, does parental skill or age play into this?
Parenting skill, medicine, and I thought there was something else, but I'm tired, and can't remember, and need to sleep. G'night.

Well, I have triplets and each had children at the same time . 1 had 1 , the second twins and the third triplets. And the one with the triplets had less parenting skill after the baby grew up than her siblings. The one who had one child was the best. Ironic!
And I have got 2 sets of twins at the moment who stay together.
When they were little, 1 set of girls, if I took one to look for collectibles the other would look up and run as though following.
The other pair are working and even if I set their skills separate they will still only work side by side. They run at the sight of a woman! And will both not drink potions.

I believe - don't quote me on this - that it's the person doing the kissing, whos score is taken into account. I may be wrong, and it may always use a combined parenting score of both parents, though. Do you know who the father was? Perhaps an unskilled brute initiated the kiss with the master parent, while a master parent initiated contact with your master. As always, there's an element of random chance; unlikely things like that just happen sometimes..

Ummmmm..... no I dragged each of them to 3 different males all with good general skills! I have no male master parents at all in VV3.
In VV1 and VV2 you could up a villagers parenting skills and get the annoying message and ding dong, about maximum population, but in VV3 it just says no housing. And you do not seem get any extra points, I have tried -do correct me if I am wrong. I wanted to get one of my older elders to be a Jack of all Trades.

If you're looking for extra skill points in parenting I think I found a little cheat to get more.
The obvious one is drop an adult on a kid and they'll try to tell them a story, if they succeed they get parenting experience.
The other is if you try and drop a dude on a lady that's too old, I tried like 5 times because the girl had nice skills, but they wouldn't make a kid. BUT the parenting skills did go up each time. Seems to me like after (50?) the women won't make babies anymore. Haven't played with that too much, but seems like a good technique to up parenting skills. That's also why I was wondering if maybe younger men/women were more likely to make triplets... any more ideas?
Also, has anyone come up with definite ways to increase the likelihoods of parents passing on skills to children? Is just having master in a skills enough to roll the dice or do you increase odds by maxing the skill. Will having adept in a skill give a chance to pass it on?

Yes, women stop making babies at 50. And yes, the speed-kissing technique will still gain both men and women skill, even if the woman's over 50; it's a good reason to save parenting for last, when going for JOAT, since it's so easy to gain skill in. Also, has anyone come up with definite ways to increase the likelihoods of parents passing on skills to children? As mentioned, I personally believe it's a roll of the dice. I read almost everything posted to the VV3 forum, though, and I've never heard of any way to increase your chances, except perhaps to ensure that BOTH parents have the skill you're aiming for. I think it's much safer to just make sure every kid can be taught by the chief at least once, to cut down on the slackers you have to train; picking parents to inherit skill just seems so hit-or-miss to me, that the time you save training fewer slackers is just not significant compared to the time you invest in trying to have more skilled children born.
