Not for sometime it doesn't, for a food source you're going to have to rely on a fruit tree. \:\)

The hive actually gets honey rather regularly. The problem is, it recovers something on the order of 2 honey per hour; it's almost worthless in actually sustaining a tribe. The food it starts with is apparently meant so that you last long enough to develop more lasting sources of food, not to actually sustain a village based on its production.

Quite right, too! All the villagers' teeth would fall out if they tried living on nothing but honey! ;\)

What I don't understand is, after the honey is depleted why don't the villagers warm up some of the remaining wax and take care of the pandemic of uni-brow going on there? ;\)

The honey does replace itself, but, like other people have said, you need to find a good sustainable food source for your villagers to rely on. Meanwhile, get the children in your village to pick up mushrooms as food or pause the game while you work out a sustainable food source \:\)
