Has anyone come up with a good way of keeping track of the game? I've only been playing for a few days so I've just been jotting info down in a notebook but it didn't take me long to realize that this method is not going to work for long. Help please...I'm going into paper/pen overload!

I use ScreenHunter for making screenshots of the species chart. So i can look back at all the fish that i've breed so far.

You can download it here.

I've been trying various things, but I've found that creating excel spreadsheets work best.

fin-by-fin and body-by-body to keep track of cross-breeds.

And fin-by-body to keep track of which species were discovered.

Thanks, I will try this and see how it goes...I'm playing as 3 different players so simply writing it all down gets a little messy (for lack of a better word). Of course, I would have all 5 slots but my children have taken over those.

Collecting data from different players really helps to fill in the fin-by-fin and body-by-body charts. But my species chart got confused for which player discovered which species. At first I didn't care where it was discovered, but I now have a goal of finding them all, at least for one player. (two of my players have now acheived all the magic fish. yeah!

Best way to keep track of you fishes geneology is to go to the species chart of your fish, press (ALT & Print Screen) on your keyboard then open Microsoft Word, open a new page and press (CTRL & V) to paste the captured photo onto the paper. Then press (Return, Return) to prepare the page for the next Screen shot.

Hope That Helps :-)

Im up to 180 specicies. I have not yet gotten serious about finding the species, but I am thinking about it.

I don't think doing screen shots of over 400 kinds of fish would work for me, I would need more organization.

I did download the attachment on one of the threads showing how to make all the species.

It's an Excel spreadsheet. For those who do not have Excel, here is a link to a smaller free office suite that will also open the attachment.

I don't want to attach the other poster's spreadsheet without giving him/her credit. It is organized as the above poster noted, so maybe the above poster made it, sfrose? 3 pages, fin to fin, body to body, body to fin. I have not really studied it yet....but have it put away for a rainy day thanks to whomever did all that work.

No, I didn't make the spreadsheet that was posted here (though I have downloaded it to get ideas.)

I decided to build my own, organized slightly differently. I'm not done yet, but I'm seeing some interestiing patterns.

That spreadsheet was created and posted by Buttoneer, and is available for download in the Spoilers thread of the Fish Tycoon Guide near the bottom of the forums.

I did do the screen shots of the breeding chart and I can see where it would be cumbersome after a while but for the time being, just getting started, it works great. It especially works great for my 3 1/2 yr old son who can look at the pictures and see what fish he wants to "do."
