Just had my slowest villager get the pearl event. Remember reading that crushed increased energy, but couldn't find that thread. Does this last the rest of her life or does it wear off?

Funny how the "Likes: Running," "Dislikes: Running" doesn't cancel each other out.

Funny how the "Likes: Running," "Dislikes: Running" doesn't cancel each other out. I think that the last one that was applied is the one that sticks; running is probably more like a switch with three settings - slow, medium, fast. Slow was set at birth - it was switched to fast upon the event.

Very interesting. I've often wondered what the effect of such an event would be on a non-runner but it's never happened to me and I've not seen it reported in the forums before. Several times I've had the event happen to a villager who already was a runner, and he/she just had "running, running" as part of the likes, with no other difference.
I do wish that non-runners would speed up to a walk when the time came for running; getting away from an unwanted suitor or seeking shelter from the rain, for instance.

Update-----
When I get back to her village, I have tagged her for my next JOAT (her mother was my first for this village). When she found the pearl, she was 34yo, had no master in skills, and was an adept parent after 3 kids. She is now 35yo, master scientist, almost master farmer, just over adept builder, and just made trainee doctor. The girl has really been moving...lol.
Her family is interesting. Her sister was the baby of the landing party, she was the first conceived on the island, and she was named after her grandmother, by the computer-not by me...lol. Her father was my first esteemed elder. She was really a disappointment when running was her dislike after that lineage..lol. She is definitely making up for it now.

When I encountered my first "slow" villager, I imagined that he had a heart condition and needed to take it easy. It would take him a long time to haul those big turtle shells!

How do you know who the grandmother is? Did your villagers bring a geneology tree with them to the Secret City? (LOL) Congrats on only having to deal with the slowpoke for half her life! Sounds like she'll get JOAT in no time!

Sounds like you've had a lot of runners! I think I've had only one in VV3 and have played quite a few different villages all the way through -- with 100 people each in a couple of villlages. What's your secret to getting runners???? And to getting that event? And the combination of event with a runner several times? Wow, I'm impressed! What am I doing wrong??? And, I've always thought that non-runners should at least walk normally! They dislike running, so what's with the walking so slowly?? Maybe they should be renamed for what they really are: Likes: Being a slowpoke!! Dislikes: Ever moving faster than a (slow) snail. (Personally, I dislike running too, but I walk faster than anyone I know!)

I do my own, but I sure do hope they include something to help with that in the next segment, like leave the parentage on the details page for life....lol Congrats on only having to deal with the slowpoke for half her life! Sounds like she'll get JOAT in no time! Thank you. She is over halfway there now thanks to 2 more kids, one an apprentist doctor(2yo) and the other an apprentist scientist(4yo). Wanted to see what they would inherit after her change. None of her 5 kids dislikes running, thankfully.

The 'dislikes running' villagers are especailly painful to watch as children. Have you ever used one to collect a mushroom. Forever comes to mind. Wondering how many have made JOAT's of their slowtops? I was so thrilled to accomplish that feat with my first that I did it once more. But now the thrill is gone, sigh.
