I would have to agree, although my first thought was they made a knock-off of VV. The premise seems to be the same but they operate differently. I have EFP and I have all 3 VV's. The VV games are realtime. Things get accomplished when you are not there running your tribe unlike with EFP. EFP is more like a sim game in the respect you can tell a person where to go and what to do. With VV, you can suggest to the villagers what to do but they have their own mind and will get sidetracked with laundry or bathing. VV has kids. They are an integral part of the game as well.

The one thing I do think EFP has over VV are the side games. There are times I will just open EFP to play a game of marbles or higher/lower. These types of side games make EFP less boring. Say you have some people completing a bridge or everyone is fishing, that get boring. So you go hangout in one of the games. Do a little "Diner Dash" game for awhile.

The overall game appeal for me is not that great. I can guarantee I have played any one of the VV games 100's of times more than EFP. I have only played EFP twice all the way through since I got it. That does not include playing the side games as mentioned.

VV is more charming and is more realistic. It's method of solving the game is more challenging and takes more brain work and planning. Food runs out. Trees go bare. People are born and people die. They get old. They get sick and need to be healed. They need to be taught a skill. They just don't come in ready to do any chore you set before them. They have likes and dislikes that truly affect their performance on the island. Island events happen. Some are good and prosperous while some are not so beneficial.

As much as I enjoy EFP's side games, given the choice between EFP or any single VV game, I would choose VV over EFP any day of the week.

Hmmmmmm, if you think where we are writing these responses, whatever anyone says on this topic is going to be a teensy (!!!) bit biased!

I've played Escape from Paradise and it's ok to play, but a Completely different game from Virtual Villagers. The only similarity is it's little people on an island!

I don't think one game has to "beat" another, everyone has their own opinion, and I bet out there somewhere there is a forum full of people saying they prefer Escape from Paradise.

So if anyone wants to think that Virtual Villagers has "won" this round, then go ahead, but I think the point is pretty mute as this is essentially a forum dedicated to the Villagers!

i actually agree wholeheartedly, i'd play a little "Diner Dash: Flo On The Go"and i like it! i think it is better than EFP, since this is also arcade, but you do not take care of the customers. Seth, was so bad thatr he had the power to make his sister Isis make anything good. she taked care of oll the other gods, which we do of all our villagers. see how Isis will defeat her brother Seth by playing "Luxor 3" or "The Ancient Quest Of Squarrah". another two completely different games.

I played Escape from Paradise, for a free trial. I didn't really like it. You have to take carfe of each villager (extra work: sleep, make sure they eat, etc.). AT least our villagers are smart enough to take care of themselves. sort of \:D

I have played Escape From Paradise. But seriously better than VV? I think NOT! Even if you can make your main character it's not that good! I played the trial then i wanted to buy.. until i bought VV3.. I loved Vv3 more than anything and i'd never trade it for ANYTHING! ( expect maybe VV4! \:D )

How's this? I (obviously) enjoy the VV games over EFP. But wait! Does EFP have an EFP 2 or 3? Nope. VV does.

I played EFP when it first came out and found that it was simply a form of flattery for LDW. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I think the game is okay, kinda like a modern day VV.

Escape is fun but once at the end the game is over. If you want to do it again go ahead. But with VV the game goes on after all the puzzles are beat. Escape is fun but they made one and are most likey going to leave it at one. VV has 3 and we all hope for more.
