make sure their action bar says: Studying strange plant. If it doesn't, it's possible that you have already studied that plant, or its VV3 you are playing. If you are playing virtual villagers 3, they don't study the plants \:\)

Or if you are trying to get them to be healers, it shouldn't say that they are learning, just studying. I hope I am correct... \:8

You won't get the villagers to become master doctors just by studying the plants unless you sit and watch them and you drop them on the plants each time yourself. Once they become adepts they stop studying the plants on their own and only gain skill by practising medicine when they heal other villagers.

Remember that as they gain skill, it takes more and more successes to more the same distance on the skill-bar. One notch of skill to reach mastery takes a LOT more successes than the single success required to gain the first notch on the skill bar.

ok...for the person who asked i am playing virtual villagers 2. and i want to start working on solving the puzzle with the plants so i can make the stews and maybe i was not clear enough but i am trying to figure out...if in order to master the plants like websites say u have to do to be able to make the stews...do i just keep dropping villagers on them? i am not really trying to get master doctors or anything but all that seems to be happening is my villagers gain healing by dropping them on the plants. thats cool and all but i am trying to learn the plants so i can make the stews. from the responses ive gotten so far im assuming i just keep dropping em on the plants...it just seems like its taking a really long time.

If all you want to do is make stew, then you're missing an important step. Try dropping an adult villager on the cauldron first, and then see what happens when you drop a villager on the plant. \:\)

ha...ok thanks. i dont know why i didnt just try putting a villager on the cauldron earlier. i thought it was more complicated than that i guess. from reading the puzzle description i saw online i was under the impression i had to go around and learn all the plants before i could even try to make the stew. thanks for the info though. thats what i was looking for although the answer turned out to be totally obvious after knowing it. ha.
