The ash key was sitting in the firepit and I wanted to see if the kids would pick it up or not. They ran because it was hot, so I put them at the waterfall to see if they would pour water on it. They did! It worked out great because they are much faster than the adults. My "9 year old" also picked up the ash key and put it in the door.

I thought all along that the kids were only good for mushroom hunting, herb collecting and collectible pick-up!

They can also heal villagers, though they will not undertake the task alone, and can perform many chief tasks, though they cannot teach until they're 18. I agree, they're very helpful for the ash key - carrying all that water is quite a bit of drudgery.

Maybe we should make a list of all the things the kid can do...

Chief tasks. Direct work, point out collectibles, and I assume [spoiler]switching the pearl for the black key[/spoiler]. Considering they don't seem to be restricted from key-related tasks, they can probably get the pink key, as well.

EDIT: Let's not forget carrying the water to COOL the ash key.

I know! And thanx for the list williamani! Very useful. I was very surprised at what the children can do in VV3, and we owe it all to LDW for listening to our ideas.

Has anybody verified that they can collect all keys? The only evidence we have - other than what I called assumptions - is for the Ash key.

The Pearl has to be carried by the Tribal Chief, and a child chief certainly can exchange the blue for the black pearl, and use it as a key.

I just saw this . . . there's one problem here.

Build? Parent? Heal without being told to? Fish, harvest fruit, and harvest honey? Research? Re-assemble the alchemy lab? Tell stories? As a chief, they can teach or lecture -- this won't count numerically though, since 'chief tasks' is a single item in this list.

We seem to have forgotten the actual jobs, when making this list.

My child chief got the pink jewel key fine.

As soon as I had an adept scientist and she had built the lab I made the potion and let the child Chief drink it and go get it. He was only 4.
I like my Chief to do the Keys though!
Have not tried any other child try.

Perhaps only letting the chief is a bit elitist??
I know he has to do the pearl key, but........,.

I always try to get my chief to the bones first too.

They can lecture the whole tribe, but child chiefs can't teach other kids. They have to be 18 to be able to do that.
