I think (judging from some of the posts, anyway) that quite a few people don't like the Tribal Chief in VV3.
But the chief isn't forced down our throats. After the first one, you can ignore that feature and have the kind of tribe you want.
Not if you want to finish all the puzzles, you can't.
But it is true that there are only limited needs for the chief, and once those are fulfilled, if the player dislikes having a chief, it's their fault for making one.
