i make it easier for me to recognize which parents and grandparents the child has:
1. i name the Grandparent's name:
Palau Heart and Itchi Step
2. the parent's name then will be:
Punoi IcthiPalau and Ema AzizaRemus
3. the child of the grandparent then will be:
Nana EmaPunoi RemusItchi




it is nice to know who the grandmother is and i also show who is the grandfather.

i love the species of a child, and i find it nice know its species, because i love a family chart.

true for me. but you can just do whatever you want to do, but i like it this way.

I also have families and I take a village 'portrait' every few village years... I have 15 screenshot portraits of my village with all their names and stuff over the years.

I am doing something similar with one of my villages. I keep a notepad of family information. When I first started my tribe I made 3 "clans" with the 3 males. Wolf, Crow, and Lion. Then as the women aged old enough to have babies I made them the men's wives. Each generation I try to produce at least once male and one female from each "clan". If I had bad luck with genders then that clan leader would take on a 2nd wife to see if they would have better luck, etc.

I kept track of names like this:

Alpha Male: Nonolo Wolf
Wife: Lala Wolf
Gen1: Akiti Lala Wolf (All children get their mother's first name as a middle name)

Alpha Male: Hiji Crow
Wife: Mali Crow
Gen1: Jak Mali Crow

Then when Jak and Akiti would get married Akiti's name would change to Akiti Lala W Crow. The W showing what clan she was born in.

This has been fun for me!

you also have a good way. i once had the same way, but children would have the father's name along. i have two familys. one is this and the other is this;

Etini PonuiEma is 13. Fiji was not yet skilled at age 14, but now she is 15 and adept farmer.

by the way, there is also Hiji. funny there is a Fiji and a Hiji. the grand parents of Fiji, Etini, and Hiji are Solo and Fiji, Fiji was earlier named Kai, but when Fiji died, i dicided to rename Kai LakeSogan Beautiful, Fiji LakeSogan Beautiful.
Fiji and Solo, were good grandparents. Sogan died first, when he felt ill. then he lied in the hospital, and he slowly died. Fiji was no longer healthy. she felt elderly, sad, tired, and lonely. then, she slowly started dying. but Nana, is the oldest person; she is 61, and she told us she felt elderly, but unlike Fiji, she still felt happy, and she is very wise. she told them many stories, but because i am the Guiding Hand, i dont know! trust me; i have played for a very, very, very long time.

Unfortuanley when i opened my game I saw it was restarted and had to start a new tribe. However, I made a new tribe of 7 villagers(i actually started with 8 villagers because an event came and it added 1 more villager.). And one of them was named Topaz, her hair was golden-blond so renamed her TopazG. Then there was Toki, his hair is black, so renamed him TokiB. when TopazG and TokiB married, TokiB was now TokiG. they had a daughter called Fiji, so renamed her FijiG Topaz. soon i will post the names.

I started naming all of one "family" names starting with B, like Blondie and Bali(which was his given name by the computer). Then I tried to have an all J family, Julie and John. Then all P's, Pebbles ('cuz she looked just like the Flintstone) and Pete. My village was prospering. Pete was an elder. I had figured out how to give the villagers multiple master skills! YAY!!

...And THEN...

I forgot to turn the speed from 2x to 1/2 when I went to bed last night. I went from a tribe of over 25, down to 7. I only have one male, and he's 11. OOPS!!
