I have this happen several times. It's either the male or the female. Once I had this female who had a son. Then when her husband died, I paired her off with another guy. Her next four kids were girls. With other's I'm not sure, cause I don't let them have kids a lot. But then with another pair, they just had girls again. Occasionally, they get a boy, of course. Does this happen to anyone else?

The exact opposite happened to me. In my first tribe, I had 7 boys, and then finally got a girl!

One of my tribes was down to only males, then only one male for forever it seemed. This tribe has been going ever since and things seemed to have balanced out for the most part. But I have noticed bursts of males or females though I don't know the cause. \:\)

The cause is... randomness.

People make the mistake of thinking that 'random' means that both options are not just equally likely, but will actually happen equally. This is just not true.

Random patterns are almost always categorized by 'clumps' (the same result happening over and over). It's only when everything is averaged out that you see that the two options did in fact occur roughly half the time each.

Just because when you flip a coin you are equally likely to get either heads or tails, doesn't mean that you won't get 20 tails in a row. Unfortunately people do assume that that's what it means.

I know exacty how you feel. At first, I was only having girls and I thought it was due to the pairing of the couples, too. But now I'm getting handfulls of boys \:\?

I have a chief who only had boys. And nother female who only had boys too. I guess it's random luck. *shrugs*

Yep, you are right Tuna! It's purely by randomness, so I guess you could consider your tribes quite lucky. I don't think I have had more than four of the same gender in a row!

I have 50-odd villagers in my current tribe and am trying to build them up to the maximum. Unfortunately most of the villagers at the start of the game were female. Then the law of averages kicked in. I now have a balanced population, but that means most of the younger villagers are men.

At the moment I have only one female of childbearing age; even if she produces a child every two Isola years she is just about keeping the population level as the older villagers begin to die.

Luckily the present generation of kids contains a good mix of boys and girls so in a few more years the population should start expanding again.

Actually I just realised I had two, but the second is a runner so she can be better employed as a farmer.

Since I wrote that only three villagers have died and about six were born. Four girls turned 18 so I immediately mated them. One had triplets and two had twins, so the population jumped by another nine. \:\)
