I seem to have a lazy tribal chief! I put him on directing work, then when I come back to the game (or leave it on and check back later), he's 9 times out of 10 wandered off somewhere. It took (no kidding) 3 days for them to build 1 hut and 4 to build the clothing hut (on 2x speed too). I'd say I'm NEVER going to get the statue raised while he's around. The tribe doesn't seem to acknowledge his leadership either, most of them wander off if he's there or not.

And it isn't even that he's busy worrying about the sick or trying to bury the dead, he just wanders off to whatever. Sheesh!

Does he dislike work?

My chief does pretty well. He's usually where I last left him, doing his job.

Is your chief young? I find that younger chiefs seem to wander around a lot.

Maybe you should have more lectures, so your chief starts to do some work, and then he might not wander off so much. \:\)

He doesn't hate work or like sleeping, he was in his 20's when he got the job but is now in his 60's. He was a Master Farmer and had some parenting skills when he started, but it doesn't even seem like he's off farming or making babies. He's just daydreaming I guess!

You aren't trying to make the chief farm or build or research, are you? The chief doesn't sully his hands with the work that peons can do. All he'll do is supervise.

On that note, sick people will always make him go worry over the sick; if you let the fire go out, for instance, sickness will spread, and after checking on the sick, he won't go back to work when they're healed.

So annoying how he'll drop everything to "worry," but will never do anything useful about it!

You can heal with the chief - he just won't get up to do it without being told.

So all his worrying and work-avoiding is useless, like I said. \:\)
