If your villager is starving and you only have a beehive remember that when one mushroom appears another one will appear shortly. Also keep your villagers working in the lab to buy your faction please submit more if you have them

Errr... mushrooms don't appear shortly one after the other, except during rain.

LOL Opti! You may have to wait long periods of time for good collectibles. Also, you can get the chief to make rare collectibles. Another good way of finding collectibles is making your chief do a lecture, to make sure that no collectibles are hidden under the villagers feet. \:\)

Well, all I can say is that I was very lucky. I'm pretty sure I finished in about 40-45 Isola years, even before anyone died. The only thing I know to make collectibles appear more often is to make your chief point out one every 24 hours if you have L3 leadership, like Becca said.

He is gaining skill; the difference is that as he rises in skill, gaining further skill has less effect. Think of it as a role-playing game. You may need 100 experience points to get to level 1 (trainee). You might need 250 to get to level 2 (adept). Level three might take 500 points, and level four might take 1000 - a total of 1,850.

This is only an example, but the point is that as your villagers gain skill, they need to repeat the action more often to make the same amount of progress. Just keep up the storytelling.

I know a VERY fast way of becoming a master parent. It will only work if you have one or more villagers of the opposite gender, who are over 50. Keep placing the villager on a 50 year old plus, and do not wait for them to go inside. Simply keep putting him/her on the elderly villager, and eventually they will become a master. I used this twice to get JoaTs. It's a fast and effective way, but it IS cheating. Otherwise, if you have a young villager, just give them a bit of skill in parenting and let them do the rest. I only used the first option because my villager would have died of old age before I could master him. \:\)
By the way, it will take a while to get from adept to master. It may seem like the bar is stuck, but it is actually moving in very small portions.

Technically, it's an exploit, and therefore not explicity forbidden in the posting guidelines. \:\/

I like being a rebel, too. I express it by putting mean, irritated-looking plush kitties in my signature.

A 102 year old man can have children. Men can bear children at any age - it's only women who have a 50-year limit imposed on them.

I remember VV1 watching those 70 year old women carring the babies and praying that they made it the whole way... 'cause if they didn't make it the babe... never showed up anywhere. This is better. I try to keep my eye on their age and if someone is 48-49, I will most often give them one more baby for the road...

try to keep your chief directing work and if you have alot of food you can switch your farmers to another skill

I found some success with not allowing the villagers to get to the bottom of the screen with the leaves when clearing the roster of the dead. Keep putting them on clearing leaves and they become builders quickly. This is especially helpful if you have an trainee builder who you want to become adept quickly for fxing the lift, or an adept builder who you want to become a master quickly!

True; the task is not 'complete' until they ditch the leaf, so both the roster and the rubble are good hold-back tasks for training master builders in the late-game. This is because if the task never reaches 1%, the builders will not auto-complete it.

This also works with the bee hive for Farmers, just don't allow them to get to the food bin with the honey.

This is true; it's much more critical in the case of builders, though. Some late-game tasks need master builders, and 'fixing hut' endlessly to train builders is almost painful.

Actully you need to pause and repause quickly for each kid after the first.
