Most of my villagers are dying before they get to their late 70's. Only one has made it to 79 and one to 80 out 38 deaths - what am i doing wrong? I have the nature faction and have acheived all the puzzles and awards except for getting a villager to live to 90.

Please help as i have left them alone for several days now in the hope that one of them will reach 90 but no joy.

Thank you in advance

Debs

On the roster why does it say they died. If old age then use tech for science and medince. If sickness you need more doctors.

Alchemy has nothing to do with aging. Medicine helps them live longer, though, and by using restorative potions, you can help the elderly last a little longer.

Or you can exit the game unpaused with several healers and farmers ready. Wait a while (depending on the game speed), and when you come back someone should be over 90 or at least close to it. I've never tried it before, and it is risky, but other people say it works for them. \:\)

That's good for achieving the 'over 90' award, if you have a decently robust population. The basic idea is that 'over 90' isn't something you achieve, it's just something that happens when it's ready to.

For general worries about ailing villagers, though, leaving them alone doesn't help them live longer. It's all in keeping plenty of healers, a hot fire, and restoring those who are seriously weakened with potions.

Thanks for your answers guys. I have got the full nature faction and all of the tech research things are researched in full and completed everything except for the 90yr old award. I have over 400,000 in food and nearly 2 million tech points,115 villagers and about 25 of those are master doctors with more in training or adept.

I read on one of the posts on here that being a healer is less stressfull on the health of villagers so i have a couple who are now in their 50's who have done nothing but healing to see if that works.

I do go through all the villagers health at least once a day and use a potion to top up health but obviously sometimes they die before i get to them as i leave it on normal play while i am at work rather than pause the game.

Healing, farming, and parenting - I believe - do not involve work accidents. Building and research do.

Building and research can faulter a villager's health. I suggest picking one villager (preferrably not a builder or a scientist) and trying a previously mentioned approach. \:\)

McK - not a good means of going after the over-ninety award. Some villagers are just slated to die earlier than others - you can't choose who lives longer without babysitting them eternally. For the award, best to just let it happen on its own - it'll happen, if you have medicine maxxed.

For general village health, the methods already posted work well.

You are not alone with this. My first tribe still does not have a 90 yr old. I am now close to 5 million tech and 2 million food and have had over 200 deaths. Perhaps the random number generator is stuck?

If so, restarting the game should help; I personally never tried to achieve this - it always occurred after upgraded medicine, usually without me noticing.

There is a way to virtually guarantee an Ancient Elder that is discussed in this thread.

I'm having the same problem. I've completed all the puzzles, have all the tech points, 75+ Master Doctors, 100,000+ food and the 3rd generation of villagers have all been dying between the ages of 73-77 due to old age.

I don't want to leave it for days, since that absolutely ruins the game for me, since I like to see what's happening, get Esteemed Elders before people are 30 and set up couples. I won't be able to have lectures for the kids. I hate leaving the game running when I'm not watching it and coming back and finding all my favorites dead. That absolutely ruins the game for me. It truly sucks if that's the only way to do this and I hate it if the programmers have made it that way.

It's not necessary to leave the game off to get an Ancient Elder - that's just one way to do it. As others have said in this thread and elsewhere, it's possible to achieve through constant play, as well.
