What effect, if any, does failing to water the crops before the harvest have? Does this affect the time delay for the harvest?

Also, it *seems* to me that it's taking longer and longer for the crops to grow. I haven't timed it but I'm sure that the timer is getting longer each time. This last time was over 200 minutes when I came back to the game and I thought it was only about 180 the last time.

Of course, this could just be a perception thing since I have *NO FOOD* left after an island event and it's a lot more critical to bring in the harvest now than it was before. And the mushrooms? Hardly ever see them now that I really need them. Go figure.

The moment when the crops appear is alway the same, it depend of the speed you chose. You must not calculate with the time of harvesting but with the time they appear. If the time you harvest is longer, the time they appear again will be shorter.
In 1/2 speed I think the crops appear every 7 of our hours.

Yes, planting and watering increases a villager's farming skill. As Laurence said, the faster your villagers harvest the crops, the longer they will have to wait for new crops to appear. That's because there are exactly 800 crops in each harvest, and the crops appear at fixed times that are based on game speed.

When they water the fields, they gain farming skills. Mine is on fast speed so from the start of the crops it's 120mins. So if they do it in 30mins the next crop comes in 90mins. But, if you put a few vills before say the last 30, you'll get even more food out of that yeald! hope that helps and good luck.
