Do you have Nature Faction in the tribe that's producing extra food points? That's one of the benefits of the Nature Faction. The Magic Faction produces extra tech points from research.

There have been a couple of other reports of problems with paused games, but we have never been able to recreate the issue. We have rigorously tested pausing and have never had it fail on any of our systems. Please have a look at this thread. Perhaps you can provide some additional details that would help us?
