I realise that there is a more detailed tread on this, but I don't want to know everything.

On one Island Event, after making a choice, I received a Master Farmer. In a later game, twice, after making the same choice that I had made before, a villager disappeared. Is the difference in outcomes because I was playing at a higher difficulty level, or are the outcomes chosen at random? In other words, if this event occurs again, could I still get a Master Farmer?

That's really all I want to know.

The possibility of encountering any given Island Event, as well as the outcome of that event, are largely random. The Island Events are supposed to be a little "friendlier" when things are not going particularly well for your tribe (as might happen on higher difficulty settings), but the game's difficulty setting doesn't directly determine which of the possible outcomes you will see.
