In light of all the turmoil created by the SPCV vs. SPVC furor, I have decided to start a brand new club. I think this is one that EVERY forum member can feel comfortable joining. The purpose of this club is to promote friendship and tranquility in the forums.

By posting this thread, I hereby officially resign as VP of the SPCV, in hopes of attracting many of its’ members to this new club. I appoint myself as chairperson of the LDWFC. In an effort to restore peace and harmony to the forum, I have asked Jazzo to be the President, and Lurkily to be the Vice President. I have also asked Laurence to be Secretary. Finally, I’ve asked AirStream Raider, Lady Ronin, tkdgrl223, McKittyKat55 and Tuna Puzzler to all be board members. I will advise you all later as to their answers.

Here is the charter for the LDWFC. To join, you need do only two things: One, post a brief reply to this thread stating that you are joining. Two, put “Member LDWFC” or something similar in your siggy. That’s all there is to it.

I as a member of the LDW Forum, and a nice person in general, promise to do all I can to promote peace and harmony within this forum.

I will refrain from criticizing others, even when their actions, or ways of playing their games differs from my own. I also will refrain from belittling any forum member or their ideas.

I will not willingly participate in any argument on the forum or in the shout box. Debating is ok, so long as it is done intelligently and without deliberately attacking or provoking another forum member.

I will offer assistance to all forum members in playing their games whenever I can. If a game player asks a question that I personally find distasteful, I will not argue or criticize them, but will instead abstain from commenting on their question.

I will at all times, try to remember that I’m conversing with real people, not just a line of text on a computer screen. Knowing this, I will try to treat everyone here the way I wish to be treated.

I hope this will cease all the tension. I like this idea, like a peace treaty. I'll gladly be the first to join!

Nice idea, although I think 99.9% of that is just following the forum rules. I guess no one can argue with this one, in that case, or create the LDWUC.

You are so right, in that anyone who follows the forum rules, is a shoo in for membership. Obviously, those who choose not to follow them wouldn't even want to join, but then again, those people are likely to enjoy a short lived existence in "Friendly Ville" as these forums have been called elsewhere.

This sounds nice, I only have one issue. I'm not abandoning the SPCV to join this. Also, it is really just following the forum rules, so it doesn't have to be a "club."

As I'm very invested and concerned with the SPCV, I want absolutely not to abandon it!!
I'll stay with the SPCV, locked or unlocked!

And as I don't feel the needing of being in, I will not join The Let's Do What's Friendly Club

I'm not sure why people think they have to leave the SPCV for this. Remember when I posted that the bills comprising the SPCV and SPVC could, theoretically, both be followed simultaneously? Well, look at this charter.

There's no rule saying you can only be in one social group.

I can't resign from the SPCV club, However I like the sound of the TDWFC club.

I will join. But i dont understand why people are thinking that they have to abandon the SPCV to join this.

It will probably help if posts are made in the SPCV forum asking them to maintain a dual membership.

EDIT: When the SPCV thread is unlocked, and I am assured that it was only a temporary lock.

From what Rock said in this thread, and a PM, it sounds to me like this is the alternative for the other two and that this is sort of to replace them. But if I can be a member of both, I'll join and be VP. Or president, if you still want me.

Why should anybody have to step down to join the other club? Why would they want to? You think the president of the AAA isn't a member of a gym as well? (He may not be, but pretend he is for the sake of debate)

The two clubs aren't redundant, aren't opposing each other, and have nothing at all to do with each other. There's no reason at all that one can't be a member of both, and indeed, can't do it while holding position in one club. Or both clubs for that matter.

I'm a recipient of that PM discussion, as well; I don't think I saw him say that. The only thing I could possibly see construed that way is that Rockmower himself quit the SPCV to attract members to the LDWFC, but I never once got the impression, in this post or his original PM about it, that he expected people from SPCV OR SPVC to quit for it.

From past discussions, it's my impression that he wants both SPCV members and SPVC members alike (If a joke-organization can really be said to have members) to share in this spirit of respect on the forums, regardless of what their views or affiliations are.

I know. Sure, the SPCV is important to those who join it, but who says that they have to leave the SPCV to join the LDWFC?
We could make an Society of prevention of cruelty to villagers, while being kind to forum members! (SPCVWBKTFM)
