The way to earn more money early in the game is to breed fish that will sell for at least $50 (there are several that will survive to at least age 50 in your starting environment) and keep breeding those fish over and over until you can get to Level 3 of Fish Environment. You will have some failures as you experiment with cross-breeding, and a lot of the babies will probably die until you get to a better fish environment, but the payoff is worth it. Playing it safe and breeding only common fish will allow you to make money, but it will take a lot longer, since most of them sell for very low prices.

Is it only possible by cheating? If so, then the whole stats idea has become worthless and genuine players are being left out of the list because of it.

All it takes is for someone to intercept the data being sent out from FT4Win and edit it to give the results they want, isn't it?

I don't know how Arthur is going to deal with that situation. There was an unfortunate bug in the initial release. That bug was quickly fixed, and only a few people have that version, but, as you can see, it really messes up the stats.

A game that I played (which is at this moment #9 on the list) is probably representative of a "best case" game without cheating, and I only had an average price of $235 per fish after selling Canary Fire-Arrows for most of the game.

If the online page can identify which version a person has, can it not choose to ignore the stats? It isn't at all an issue for those with the cheaty version to upgrade to a non cheaty version I assume? There must be a 'sense' check that can be done based on certain parameters too.

If the average fish selling price exceeds the selling prices possible in the game then surely those results can be removed.

This problem otherwise has the potential to kill the online stats completely - who can compete against those numbers?

I agree with you. They're pretty useless right now.

I've been breeding and selling canary fire arrows like crazy, and according to the in-game stats I'm ranked 4 (modest smirk; I did it all legally, achieving a modest $218 per fish) but the online page doesn't feature me at all, it's full of people who've apparently fiddled it, apart from Barbara, Lilly and Cecil, who shine as beacons of rectitude.

I will clean up the stats page very soon. I am waiting for the bugged builds that allowed a certain exploit to finish propagating. There are lots of bogus stats up there right now.

There are two parts to the Fish Tycoon for Windows statistics. The first part is the statistics function in the game that compares your statistics to other people who are playing the game and displays your "rank" on your game's statistics screen. The second part is a statistics page on LDW web site that displays the top 50 scores.

The Internet statistics page is accessible from the Fish Tycoon for Windows page - there's a High Scores link on the right side of the screen. Or, you can just click here.

I have a 15 yr old friend who sold a few fish for $9999 at the begining of his first game play, and now has over $400,000. I sold a fish for $9999 but I have discovered it may only happen once or twice and you never know what fish will go for that high high price.
