Okay, every time I try to get a villager to add wood to the fire the villager proceeds to dance poorly. How am I supposed to add wood to the fire now?

Your putting them on the fire.

you put them on the wood pile,THEN they'll put wood on the fire.

Yes I have but I got myself turned around. It happens to the best of us.

Put them on firewood, then your villager will add more wood to the fire.

put the villager on the firewood and then on the dry grass, then put them on the fire so they can light it

Following in the tradition of dubiously helpful advice, it doesn't matter what order you add the fire and the grass in. To build a fire properly, you should be adding the grass first, in fact. (Who lights a fire by putting the kindling on TOP?)

I use 2 villagers, one grabs the grass and one the firewood & whichever gets there last lights the fire ...
