Unfortunately, there's a bug in the game that can cause villagers, including the Golden Child, to disappear if they are grabbed or dragged under certain circumstances. That portion of the game is being reworked for an update to Village Sim, but it is not yet ready.

There are some possibilities for recovery though, depending upon what you've done recently. I assume that you've exited the game since the disappearance, so it has been saved like that. If not, a soft reset will "restore" the game to a point before the Golden Child vanished.

Another recovery method is to reload the backup copy of the game from your PC and do a HotSync to replace the savegame file that's on your Palm device. If it's been awhile since your last HotSync, you might lose some game progress, but you'll be able to breed the Golden Child again. Depending upon the date and time of your last HotSync (when the game was backed up), you might need to temporarily change the date and time on your Palm to match the timestamp of the savegame file in order to keep bad things from happening - the game will treat the elasped time between the save and restore as time that the game is running unattended.
