I've finished all of the puzzles and the only award I really have left to get is the "Ancient Elder", to have a villager live to the age of 90. I've got everything researched and my villagers are healthy with plenty of food, but none of them really live past their 70's. Is there a trick to this?

I guess it helps if the tribe is a Nature tribe, but, no, there doesn't seem to be much you can do. I've tried baby-sitting elders and kept feeding them potions to make them well, but this didn't make them live longer than others. However, I've come very very close to getting a 90 year old. I had several die at 88 and 89, which was so frustrating. I think it might be a waiting game and eventually you get lucky.

One thing that really seems to help is to make sure that your villagers have plenty of food, a bunch of farmers, several trained doctors, then leave the game off for several days. More often than not, you'll turn the game on and find that you have had several villagers live beyond the age of 90. Don't do this if you're not willing to have villagers die, though. When I've done this, there have been only deaths from old age, since my village was healthy and well established, and I was just going for the Ancient Elder award.

i had to go away for 5 days and had shut off my beginner games but forgot my old game, came back expecting to find skeletons everywhere, but they did ok, still had around 60, and lo and behold had had 10--90+ year olds..
its a hard award when there is nothing you can do to accomplish it.........well except not play it......

I can't get any of my villagers to the age of 75. One of my original villagers lived to 80, but since then the oldest has been 77.
All of my villagers are Esteemed Elders by the age of 30. I've completed all of the puzzles and have all of the awards other than Ancient Elders.
It really upsets me any time a villager dies. All of the 3rd generation of my tribe have been dying and I'm quite attached to them. I assumed they'd live to 90+ but all of them have been dying in their early 70s.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? I keep their health at 100%. There is plenty of food (over 100,000) and at least 75 Master doctors.

I've seen villagers who are Master Doctors, but don't have Healing checked go running off to heal people. I had a runner who was a Master Doctor would constantly go running off to heal someone no matter what he was tasked to do.
I always have at least 20 villagers tasked to Healing.
But my villagers are all dying of old age, not disease. I've never had a villager die of a disease or illness.

You can check other villages as long as the one you're trying to leave alone doesn't get opened.

I'm glad I found this thred as I been trying to get my villagers to live past 90 always die around the age of 84 at the most and even tried to have some just on one skill. I will not turn on one of my games for 5 days. I got lots of farmers and females on parenting on then leave it off and I have several doctors. PS Linda said she has a few villagers that have lived past 90 and now I know why, She did not play it for several days, as she was staying at her sisters

I did not play the game for 5 whole days and when I opened it I still had a population of 101 villagers 3 children Unfortunly it did not work no one lived longer past 90, as when I looked at the Awards, I did not have one. Is it because I had it running on 1/2 ?

I left my first "run for the 90yo" running for about 50hrs. Left it with a population of 114 with 6 nursing. Came back to pop-86, no kids, eldest-72, and youngest-32. Had among the many deceased: 93yo-4, 91yo-2, and 90yo-7 including the chief who had ruled for 72 years. One of the kids is featured as my current "ironic villager".

Hooray it worked I got my Acient Award and not only that my lazy villager Toi lived to be 100. Also my population was up to 109 after leaving a male villager in charge of parenting and had at least 20 new kids running around. He was 18 when I lift him in charge and now age 43. I also got the Ancient elder in my second game in the magic tribe as I run out of places on the roster of the dead as I already have 500 on the list, therefore I don't know who lived beyand 90. The poulation was 73 and I have 9 or 10 kids running around. My chief had died and may he might have lived past 90. there were a lot to bury. When one of them got chosen who is 10 year old female Lopa, the first thing she did was quickly bury the dead before inspecting the food.

I finally got an Ancient Villager 94 a Builder. I did not just leave it for days like most others did. I did only attend to it for a few minutes a day trying to get my last piece of coral and the game is complete. I make sure the fire is lit and all passed away villagers are burried.

Laurence, as has been mentioned before, a week is probably too long. Get your tribe up to a large population with plenty of food, farmers and healers. Then change the speed to fast, quit, and leave the game for 3 days (if you really want an ancient elder).

You could always pause the game first, quit VV3, make a backup of the savegame file(s), and then try for the Ancient Elder. If something really bad happens, you can restore the backup and try again.

I hate this game so much! I play for 15 minutes a day, and it's so terrible every time one of my villagers die. And it's terrible that the people that made this game make you turn it off to get them to live longer. What kind of idiot made this????

May be possible spoilers: I am a tad speechless and somewhat unsure how to respond. Um, let's see...death is a normal part of life, for humans as well as villagers. So, the fact that your villagers die at 'an average age' is just like us humans. And, while sad, it is inevitable. And the Ancient Elder award is an exception, a puzzle, that requires non-standard game-play to solve. I don't believe it is expected that you consistently have villagers living to 90+ years, so it is not necessary to consistently leave your game off as described above. That is just a method to achieve the award. And, as previously mentioned, it is not the only way to achieve long life spans. I don't know about giving the elders potions to keep their health up and thereby extend the life span. I haven't tried it. But I would suspect that if you wanted to take this route, you would definately need to invest more than 15 minutes a day nurturing your villagers. Regardless, I am not familiar with your posts enough to recognize the tone you use when you ask about idiots...but, being unfamiliar, it kindof hurts my feelings to read that description. Personally, I think very highly of the developers, and to hear complaint or frustration in such harsh terms is a bit upseting. Perhaps you can re-phrase your feelings in a less combative form so we can make efforts to inspire happiness, or to promote peace in the forum and stay in keeping with appropriate talk for little ones as this is an E-rated forum. Just a suggestion...your turn.

Y'know...If you didn't like the game, you didn't have to respond. None of us needed to know your harsh opinion...
Of course they're going to die. They won't live forever. And the people who made this game are not idiots.

You don't have to turn off your game for long periods to get the award. As I posted earlier on the previous page, I got an Ancient Elder without resorting to this. The method of getting an Ancient Elder discussed in the thread is essentially an exploit, and not programmed into the game. If you don't want to use it, don't.

That was harsh and uncalled for. If you need help getting the Ancient Elder, the posts are on previous pages.

Yes, I'm still fretting over this post I just wanted to add what I thought was obvious but now think it may be worth mentioning... As attached to your villagers as you may get (we all do) they are just pixels...the developers, on the other hand, are humans with real feelings... not just just the ones we fondly impose. So, I just wanted to say it seems a bit odd to defend a pixel at the expense of human feelings.

You hate this game but you play it every day and you become mad when a villager dies!! ??????? Well, I think that you love this game but you don't know how to tell it!! Please, even if you are angry or too much sad, it's not the good manner to tell it. I think that our developers will take care of our complaints better if we tell them kindly!

Spok's choice of words was definitely harsh, but I must admit, I have nurtured thoughts of how satisfying it would be to be able to smack Arthur now and then (not too hard! lol)... as he knows very well, my unbridled dislike for kids who CRAWL simply because they don't like running. I don't like having to not play the game to get really ancient elders (I'd much rather invest time feeding and caring for them to achieve this), and I've noticed that I get a far faster turnover of events if I don't pause the game...(sometimes in 13 hours - far less than the once-a-day period) which in essence means the best gameplay is weighted somewhat on the side of leaving your village unattended. Ok, end of my semi-rant... VV is still the very best game of its kind, and many years after starting with the original VV tribes for pda's, I'm still as hooked on the game, and enjoying watching the development of so many personalities
