I was just curious so I could give my female runner a break from having children.. Ha. Is there any correlation between a runner and his/her children becoming runners? If so, what is the likelihood of this happening?
Also, in general, as early as the age of 2, are you able to tell if you have a runner by seeing "running" in the villager's "likes" on the detail screen? Or, does this "like" appear as the villager gets older; if the latter is true, at what age would this appear?
Thanks!

Running is not passed down. As soon as you see the childs detail screen, you can see their likes and dislikes. These are set for the rest of their lives unless an island event changes them.

Are you sure? I guess I have high hopes. This should be something to think about-especially considering that the villagers' children DO look like them-to pass down certain behavioral characteristics-for VV4. What I would really like to see is an interactive village ("family") tree with the line of descendants from the very beginning-this would be very cool. It could be included, possibly, as a part of the status screen. You wouldn't need a log of your villagers (if you like that sort of thing) because it would all be in one place. I love runners.

I just gave my runner a deserved rest and am letting her have babies for a while. She is an esteemed elder and was a master builder by the time she was 17 and then a master farmer. It took her a little longer to make scientist. I am hoping she will be a good mommy, I want lots of runners! Though I never had a runner have a runner baby. I can always hope though!

Hi there!
Just a quick question since my search on runners didn't net much. What is the point of runners? What do they do that's special? I keep seeing how much people love them but I don't know why yet. Also, I have a villager who is randomly "running away" but she doesn't seem to be running from anything and it usually happens when I set her to a specific task (ex. fishing) but it also happens other times with no apparent reason. Is she a runner perhaps? Can I put her desire to run to some use? Thanks

Thank you Gamemastr1! You were right on the money! There is was in the dislikes "fish!" Guess I figured that was just eating it, silly me. Still, I wonder why she runs away from researching occasionally too? No fish there and there's nothing else listed on her dislikes. Running is not listed on her likes list so I guess she's not a runner. Sounds like something to look forward to though. Thank you again.

So far I've only had one runner out of all three of my tribes..I have a lot of slow people though. I usually make them Doctors because they don't have to move that much.
