Is anyone else having trouble finding all their collectibles? Im just 1 shy of the feather's, 1 shy of the seafinding's, and 1 shy of my Tablet peices, found all turtle shell's, but every 24 hour's my cheif show's a rare collectible, and it's one i already have, wondering if it's happened to anyone else? I want to finish the game, and to me, it's not Done till i have all collectible's...

Same problem here! After waiting weeks for ONE feather to show up, I deleted my games. When the mood strikes, I'll probably start a new game. Hope you guys have better luck!

Same here. 1 tablet 1 feather...chief only points out shells. It feels like the longer you play the longer it takes for collectables to show up...I'm probably just thinking that though.

You deleted your games?!? *shock* I spent about two weeks waiting for one rare feather to show up and finally got it when the chief pointed it out. I was so glad to complete my collections but the waiting and needing to complete the game killed my interest in playing with my other tribe and in playing VV3 again period. There should be surefire ways to get missing collectibles so as not to ruin the game for some like me. I just tried playing my paused second tribe after finding the cool Family Tree Creator on another post but got put off again by the nightmare of zipping around searching for collectibles. Don't know if I'll ever finish the 2nd tribe or start another...

My strategy for collectibles is slightly different. I focus the game on one spot on the map and I keep it there. I move the game to the edge of my screen so it doesn't take up all the space (the entire left side is hidden beyond the edge of the screen), and then I surf the web or do other things. I usually see the collectibles appear out of the corner of my eyes, and then I switch to the game and get a kid to get the item.
This works especially well for those collectibles that only appear in one place, like the turtle shell, coral, and tablet in VV3, or the bugs and rocks in VV2. I finished my tablet and turtle shell collections in two tribes using this method.
It's also a very good idea to get a mod that makes the collectibles stand out. Make them stand out like sore thumbs! The corals, especially, are very easy to miss.

My poor villagers were bored stiff. There was nothing left for them to accomplish. They were plum-tired of having babies, doing laundry and bathing till their skin turned Pink. They laid down, shook their heads and said, "Ah-ah not a chance." I don't want no labour dispute, so I retired them all, permanently.

I don't have a problem with that part, and as you suggested, I will focus on the area where that certain collectible are bound to show up.

It does get harder finding collectibles, the bigger the population is in the village. You can also get clumps of people by the waterfalls hiding turtle shells. I've got 2 tribes going at the moment - one science and one magic tribe, and I completed the turtle shell collection in one tribe yesterday which is my first ever complete collection! My most frustrating moment was getting the chief in my science tribe to point out a rare collectible - and she obligingly pointed out a coral that I didn't have - only to discover that the one child in the village had just turned 14 so wasn't able to pick it up. I'm always careful to check that I have at least one eligible child now...

One really tricky place is actually *under* the kids. I found a rare coral underneath a bunch of kids building sandcastles. That's something to watch out for if you have a lot of kids. Thanks, LadyCFII, that's one reason I don't increase the population beyond 35! It's the slim tapered feathers that I personally have trouble with.

I didn't think we were allowed to post those blinking icons???? I'm sorry, Lurkily, in my opinion, they're a visual menace to look at!

I didn't think we were allowed to post those blinking icons???? I'm sorry, Lurkily, in my opinion, they're a visual menace to look at! I don't think any of them blink, though they are all animated; I have a high standard for animation though, in that they all have to be clean. (No flickering back to start positions, etc.) To my knowledge, the only restrictions on images is that they be age-appropriate, that they not be copywritten, and that signature images be non-animated and smaller than the size limitations stated. (80x240 pixels) I personally like those smilies a lot; they come out of a personal archive of smileys that I generally prefer over most forum smileys. I agree, though, that lining them up side-by-side would be a little hard for anybody to handle. My apologies. I removed all but the most appropriate.

hi, i'm having the same prob. too, need one shell and 2 tablets and get my chief to point and nothing some days. not even a mushroom. down to 40 pop, just from lack of interest, got all the puzzels, and awards and the other collect. good idea about the screen on the side. will try that,
another question; does anyone have all the mods in a package deal that you can just download into your game. i'm a gamer not a geek and don't have the first clue about how to play in the guts of the machine. just want it to work.

Lurkily I liked your Smilies! My chief is still obsessed with pointing out the exact same rare turtle shell each time. I've already maxed everything! Tech, Awards, and Population, now I just go to that tribe once a day tring to get my feather and tablet piece.

I'm not sure, but I think the tablets only appear while you are clearing the rubble. If you haven't got all the tablets by the time that's done, you've missed them. At least, that's how it appears in my game, where I pulled everyone off the rubble to deal with a food shortage--not one tablet piece has appeared. Kinda makes sense, if you think about it.

I understand; a single animation, well-coordinated, is one thing. Two or three (or four) all running at their own pace is eye-wrenching. Yes, Lurkily, that's it. ==============To the rest of the PEOPLE! I DO NOT dislike Lurkily's smilies, they are both funny and sweet. Like the one she placed in her quote made me LOL.

She? <Looks left, looks right> Maybe Lurkily isn't big and manly, or have enough muscles to be masculine? Well, if it helps, I used to go by Lurker, the name of a character I once played, back when I was roleplaying. Hey, it was a free-form role-playing channel, and it was my favorite character from pen-and-paper AD&D. Lurkily was an old in-joke from back then, and 'Lurker' is slang for non-participant, which I obviously do not intend to be. Lady Ronin's the girl in this couple, (She goes by that alias wherever she goes,) and a sweet little woman she is. I got the blue, and she got the pink plushie. I'm quite proud of that sig image, (if that's the one you mean) though it's a cut-down version of a larger image; it's my own work, with source material used by permission from Lola at "Stuffies Will Kill", an online comic. Unfortunately, I can't post the link here, but it should be easy to find from a search engine. Also, anybody wanting a link to the full-size images and animations with those characters can PM me. Yes, even knowing that my photoshop skills are only so-so, I'm quite ready to show off, I know. Blame it on the eternal war my bloated ego wages against my sense of humility. Edit:Though not all of those images are E for everyone, I can at least post the higher-res source image for the one in my sig. I worked pretty long on trying to make blue look protective of pink.

I've also had tablet pieces appear after the rubble is cleared, but I did find most of the pieces while the villagers were clearing it.
Another thing you can keep an eye out for are the "bubbles" that appear with the collectibles, I guess as a little "hey, here I am in case you missed me". They don't bubble the whole time but the fact that they bubble at all has been particularly helpful to me when they appear behind a fruit tree, under the tree by the beach (where some take shelter from the rain) and when the color of the collectible is close to the color of the landscape where it's appearing.
Hope this helps!

Another thing you can keep an eye out for are the "bubbles" that appear with the collectibles, I guess as a little "hey, here I am in case you missed me". Do you mean the 'sparkles'? They're not too helpful; the ocean sparkles already, so it's useless for those. They're also difficult to see around areas that are lightly colored; something more eye-catching would be nice. Heck, I'd probably pay money just to get my children to automatically pick up collectibles, even if it's only when the game is open, and only when they're close to one. Or if "Searching for mushrooms" and "Looking for collectibles" actually made them go pick one up. Even with such an uncommon action, which may not occur when any collectibles are present, it'd be enough for me. I don't need it to be easy; I just don't want it to be monotonous.

Yes, I mean the sparkles. I think the sparkles are helpful because they sparkle in rapid succession, if you will, while the ocean sparkles occur randomly and mostly one at a time.
I'm with you on the easy vs. monotonous bit. I would like it if some children were born with preferences for shells, coral, feathers &/or rocks/slate, and then those children would automatically pick up the collectibles that correspond to their likes.
Lurkily, it's too bad you don't enjoy FanFic; you write so well!

Lurkily, it's too bad you don't enjoy FanFic; you write so well! It's already been suggested for VV4 that things like butterfly nets and bug-cages and such be a researchable or unlock-able category in VV4; I like the idea. My way with words is not matched by a knack for building a plot, unfortunately. I can work with existing material, but I'm terrible at story-crafting without a starting point.

I'll keep a look out for one of those kids, Laurence! That's funny, and too bad for collecting I suppose...
Thanks for the info Lurkily; I haven't made time to read the suggestions for VV4. FanFic fan or foe, I enjoy reading your posts. : ) Well, I'm off to scoop up some collectibles two at a time.

And... Lurkily is extremely protective...
On topic, I would kill to have those kids just pick up the collectibles and mushrooms without my assistance.. Heck, I'd give up being about to get two of the same at one time if they'd do it on their own. I just wish in one of my games I could get all the collectibles, I keep trying but I'm not even close. Cheif is virtually useless. It would have been great if he could point them out once per hour even.

the same thing is happening to me and it is driving me nuts. I can not complete the game because of waiting for the right one to fall. This is ridiculous. If the tribal chief is pointing out a rare collectable then it should be one that you do not have. The same one keeps coming up over and over. A waste of time...

Neither dumb or stupid and I have lots of other things to do but wait around for the collectables. We all know it is optional but some of us like to complete things in a timely manner. Some of us even have jobs so we can't sit around all day playing games and waiting. The collectables are part of the game and the game is not over until it is all accomplished. There should be a more reasonable way to win the game that you bought!
