Maybe someone else has experiences with running the game on a TX. I wondered about some crashes. So I did a hard reset and installed only three appilcations. Everything worked fine until I started Village Sim and left it via the home button. The the pda crahed again. Not always but approximately every second time.

Has anyone else a TX and plays village sim without any problems?

Thanks.

The TX is pretty new, so I'm sure there aren't many people who have tried Village Sim on it yet. The specs are very similar to those of my T5 and my LifeDrive, both of which run Village Sim quite well. They are both running Garnet 5.4.8, so that should be pretty close to your OS.

Crashes can take many forms and have many causes. It would be helpful if you could describe exactly what kind of crash you're having, including any error messages you receive. That way there would be some information to work with in helping to figure out what's happening.

Ok, i hoped that the posted Clies Fix would help. But I can't unpack it on Linux - will try it under windows later.

The first crashes (with a fully installed pda) were'nt really crashes but freezed the palm so I had to do the reset by myself. Now (with the nearly naked pda) the application really crashes - meaning that when leaving the game the screen gets black and resets by itself. No error messages.

That's not good. I wonder if there's something inherent in the TX that is somehow "incompatible" with Village Sim. I'm going to do some checking on a few things, and I'll get back to you soon.

Another thing I found out now. I can hear when the pda will crash. I started moving around with the sytlus very hectic. Suddenly the sound starts 'stuttering'. Then I new it will crash when I leave - and it did. But this time it was a freezing again.

I tried to get the clie files under windows - no chance. It says that the file is corrupted and i can only the the prc not the pdb's. I downloaded it with mozilla under linux tried to unpack it under linux and under windows (with winrar).

As far as I know, the TX has several problems with different applications. So, village sim is not the only one with problems :-).

Thanks for your help.

I suspect it's something unique to the TX - it IS a new device, after all. I have talked to the developers at LDW, and there is a special build that you could try on your TX. If you'll fill out the support form and let them know that you're trying unsuccessfully to run Village Sim on the new TX, they will contact you and arrange to get you a build that might work. Be sure that your email filters aren't blocking email from LDW.com or you'll miss their response.

I'm not sure exactly when you'll hear back, but it shouldn't be later than tomorrow sometime.

Hi.
I have a TX as well. Village sim crashes it as well. It happens mostly when I exit the game by using the four "physical" buttons. -Instead i use the shortcuts on the touchscreen.

Hi Mote, since we don't have a TX in house yet, would you like to try out a version that should not crash your TX? Send me a private message if you want to.
Thanks
Carla

Thanks for all the updates.
So far, Village Sim hasn't crash my TX, but a number of other programs have! Sometimes reinstalling the program in question seems to work.

Yes, that home button, and all those other buttons are problematic, in my opinion. If a application is going to cause a reset, it seems to cause it when you use the home other buttons, which seems to defeat the purpose of having them in the first place!

I'll contact support if it turns out that Village Sim crashes my TX and I need a special version of Village Sim.

Ordinarily I wait to get a new Palm, but my beloved Tungsten T3 is on it's last legs - many things don't work anymore.

Oh, for you Palm TX people who want a home button on the screen, here is an unoffical patch, from mobile-stream. I'm just reporting it, not necessarily recommending it, though it looks good.

The Brighthand Palm forums are quite good.
