Ask me for an image. Any image. Any constraints. I'll see if I can make it.

Why? Well, I'm training myself. I'm trying to regain my old skill and then to exceed it, so what I need is requests for projects. I don't care what you ask me to do, or how hard it is. Go ahead and ask, I'll give it a shot with the tools I know. I'll look up tutorials, I'll explore . . . I may not commit to actually making it, though.

The reason is that I cannot seem to gain skill on my own projects. It appears that I can only imagine projects that I know how to accomplish. So I'm asking you to give me requests so that I have a shot at some jobs that may stretch my abilities.

Keep in mind that I can only work on one or two projects at a time. Since this is a volunteer job, you're not likely to get me to stick to a schedule; so it may be a while. If a lot of people make requests, I'll look at them in the order I receive them, so there may be a backlog that you'll have to wait for me to complete -- with no guarantee I'll ever complete them.

Whenever I find a task here that I feel like undertaking, I'll put up a new post, describing my current queue of projects.

Past projects:
  • A personal project, used as a forum sig at another forum. Warnings - probably not 'E for Everyone', and also a somewhat hefty animation, weighing in at just over 660 K all alone.
  • Another sig for that same forum, detailing my projects as a modder; among the tasks nobody wanted to do in mods were unit icons, so I got going on Photoshop, and learned a heck of a lot about automation, photoshop actions and photoshop scripting. This is a perfectly safe animation, but also somewhat weighty, weighing in at nearly 650K. (I know the image quality is lower; at higher qualities it could be as high as 1.1 megs.)
  • A 'seal of approval' image, done for a modder who considered himself prominent enough to issue such approval of other people's mods. This was designed to be placed in the corner of a screenshot, and as such is particularly large and complex for a 'seal of approval' image.

This particular image is an array of four images, each in the colors that represent the four factions in the game it was made for. The robot is a concept image of one of the very lightest, but most identifiable, units in the game.
  • This is a seal made as a test project for the same forum, as a seal of approval like the first one, but one that could be placed in a person's sig without being ugly or obtrusive or oversized. The idea was going to be that there would be a variety of seals; a basic 'community approval' seal, seals for achievements in particular categories, (high-quality models, texturing, animation, creative concepts) and some ranking seals - like gold, silver, bronze, or "Top ten," or "Popular download," etc. The people who suggested the project never had any enthusiasm from the beginning, though, and this initial demonstration, a 10-minute piece of work, was as far as the project went.

There are other images, but I can't guarantee all of them would be permissible here on the forum; nothing obscene, but not anywhere near E for Everyone, for various reasons, so I won't link to them here.

In addition, anything you see in my sigs or avatar will be my own work, unless otherwise credited.

Er . . . okay. You'll have to PM me details, because I know NOTHING about Sailor Moon.

No fears; I have little left to learn about animation in Photoshop. (Other tools are a different story) They're not my preferred projects right now.

EDIT: How about this? If it's something you like, I can clean it up, recolor the white and slip away stray pixels to match the orangish-tan BG here at the LDAW forums. Small picture, so pixel-by-pixel work isn't too tough. It's 79 by 79, exactly within forum limits.

I'm, uh . . . pretty sure this is the correct character?

Here are two versions of the image, using the forum's darker orange, used commonly by the forums as a border. one version is kind of blocky; the other version has a more rounded border, which blends with the yellowish color the avatar will sit on, so that it doesn't clash. It won't look quite right here in the message body, since the background is different than what it'll eventually be placed on.

These two are the same images, only at 79x79, using bicubic sharper; it's a little better for reducing images, and might possibly look better than if IE or firefox, or even LDAW auto-reduced the image.
