I just got my new chief. (old one died of old age). He is 11 years old. Since I had already done the lecture for the day with the old chief I decided to try again with the new chief, since he wouldn't be under the 24 hour limit. And he lectured the WHOLE tribe. Not just the kids. It was really neat seeing the whole tribe in the lecture hall. Not sure if the adults got any points but all the kids did.
In my first tribe I had a chief die and found a new one immediately she was I think 53 yrs old at the time. Just to see what would happen I put her on the food bin and she made food. (The last chief had just done it an hour or so ago.) I then tried to lecture the kids and she did that too! I didn't have level 3 leadership yet so I couldn't try that. I think each chief can do everything once in 24 hrs meaning if your chief has done his/her duties for the day and dies a little while later and you find a new chief before the 24hrs is up he/she will do the same duties again. Like the clock starts over for each new chief.
three times now, i've had chiefs die and the new one refused to look for rare collectables or lecture the kids. altho before that i'd had 2 new chiefs do it. i have 4 games going. one magic, 3 nature. and in the midst of this i had the game update for the bugs. so thinking the update took that bug out? maybe, not sure. i thought it was a good bug if that's what it was.

Two days ago I found my chief had died of old age. The new chief was already 72 herself and the oldest in the tribe. I got her to create the magic food, lecture the kids, and point out a rare collectible although the old chief had done it only a few hours before. She died only a couple of hours later and my next chief was 14. So I got him to create yet more magic food and point out another collectible. I had to wait several hours for him to get old enough to teach the kids, though.
