I finally have a 3rd kid and I've been able to 1-2-3 quite a few times. The timing is tricky. The important thing is to be careful to not drop kid #2 before you un-pause, that's where I kept messing up before.

I now have level 2 on all my techs; the numbers really shoot up when you use the kids this way! (I almost feel like I am cheating )
