I started a new game this afternoon. I wanted to practice doubling up my kids on the collectibles and mushrooms.

I don't know if I've just got a really lucky game or if constantly paying attention & doubling gives you more collectibles & mushrooms but I've had some amazing strings. There was one time when I had 8 collectibles in a row, NO break in between, just turn them in at the lab and go for the next, then a couple of mushrooms and then another straight string of 10 collectibles with no break. At one time I had three different corals on the screen and I got all of them, doubled(counted for six).

I've played for about 4-5 hours total (still only the original 8 villagers & the first tree just bore fruit) but I have Level 2 in Science, Alchemy, Medicine and Restoration plus 11/12 shells, 8/12 coral & 9/12 feathers. My food is over 1,800 and I even lost some food in a fog event.

The weirdest thing is: the "babe in arms" that you have when you start out is still a baby.

Lovin' this village!

If you are quick enough and use the pause you can triple the collectables and shrooms.

First pause the game, then drop a kid on the collectable. Then drag two more kids close to said collectable while still paused. Pick up kid two while still paused. Hit the space bar to un-pause the almost immediately drop kid two on the collectable. Next quickly go to kid three and drag and drop him on the collectable.

1-2-3

I've only been able to double-dip as I call it. I'll give your method a try.

If I succeed, I'll forever remember you as 1-2-3-BOB. Hope you don't mind! \:\)

Your scheme worked about 1/3 of the time, it's now a matter of practising.

Thanks BOB!!

I finally have a 3rd kid and I've been able to 1-2-3 quite a few times. The timing is tricky. The important thing is to be careful to not drop kid #2 before you un-pause, that's where I kept messing up before.

I now have level 2 on all my techs; the numbers really shoot up when you use the kids this way! (I almost feel like I am cheating ;\) )

Yes, this method definitely works. I've been using it for about a week now, ever since I decided my research was moving too slowly and decided to start double-dipping myself; lo and behold, triple works. If you were quick enough, you could probably manage a quad pickup.

That's because you keep pausing the game.

Its actually easier to get two kids on the collectable if you don't pause it. Then after the 2nd I pause as quick as possible and try for a third...By the way, do collectables show up less frequently the longer you play the game?

Three is tough, but not impossible, and is something you can do using the normal unpause-drop-pause method. Some here can regularly manage four, which is definitely beyond me, and also next to impossible to do through the usual means - the technique is similar, but requires a different methodology.

The most I've managed to get on one collectable is 3. I almost got 4, once. But I don't do the double collectable thing as much anymore because it makes nursing time longer because of all the pauses.

Yep, I have done that before, but only got up to 3 kids on the same collectible/shroom. It got picked up by the first kid before I could place the fourth on it.

Getting four kids to pick up is very tough. It seems a little easier on mushrooms than on collectibles, but both are possible ... it's really just a case of being lucky and quick.

I get four pretty often. I rarely fail to get three if I'm paying attention and not just half-heartedly going, "Oh, here's another common shell... well, okay...." Most of my fails are due to the collectible timing out because the game was on pause too long. The first kid grabs it but it vanishes before the second kid can be dropped.

I've only once managed four. Three kids were building sandcastles right next to an uncommon collectible and I had one in the Guiding Hand. I swiftly dropped the kid and moved the kids over, and to my great surprise it worked. This is without pausing, mind you. Otherwise the best I've managed is three.

I try not to pause the game to pick up collectibles as that messes up the nursing mothers' clocks.

The nursing time thing just never bothered me that much. I don't keep track of how long they're supposed to nurse, so whenever they finish is good enough for me.

Thanks for posting this awesome tip! I have got the "triple dip" down pretty good. I manage to get 3 about 80% of the time. I have not yet gotten 4, but maybe one of these days. Still, even 3x the points is great. Thanks!

I have done a really long line of colectables, but that was in VV2. I need more children to test it out, since my tribes are, how do I put this, dying out, yes, that's good \:\)
