My lazy villager became the chief but I use her to produce babies because she can still do her special skills even when pregnant.

I haven't encountered her refusing to do her skills. If it hasn't been 24 hrs, a prompt will appear to say she can only do it once every 24 hrs.

I've never seen this either. They won't direct work automatically, you have to drop them on the right spot such as the research table, hut being built, etc. I've had several chiefs in different games and they've never refused to direct work, apart from a kid chief who couldn't direct the work on fishing. Being a kid he couldn't swim, so was immediately warped to dry land when I tried him. In addition chiefs can't teach other kids; you have to wait until they reach 18 for that.

She doesn't direct by her own, you must put her on the work you want to be directed!

I had a kid chief who didn't direct the building of a house but he directed all the other tasks! \:\/

Chiefs are upper-class. Are you actually insinuating that they have responsibilities? Goodness forbid a CHIEF, of all people, get his feet dirty to direct harvesting, let alone expose himself to the fumes of the research lab.

For shame. He already gives you free food and teaches children. Isn't that enough? Allow the poor man some respite.
