Hello all,...this is my very first time playing a VV game. I'm curious,.It seems that I can only "play" for 20min or so and then there really isn't anything to "do",.I quit the game and come back hours later to see what's happened while I was gone. Am I missing something? So far it really seems that what I need to do is set up everyone to do what I need them to do then leave them alone!!

No, that's the essence of the "casual game". I think a lot of us are more control freaks and like to have the game running in the background so we can check in more frequently, but mostly to make sure the villies are doing what we asked them to. And with VV2 and VV3 there are the collectibles to constantly look for. The great thing about VV is that there's no wrong way to play; whatever makes you happy. Have fun!

Yeah, it's just the way real-time games are. You are supposed to leave them alone to play by themselves. Checking to see what has happened while you were away is part of the fun. That's why I really love the Virtual Villagers games and Plant Tycoon. They're totally unique among all the casual games out there.

I feel you need some sort of order, at the begining of the game. You need to gain tech points and food for survival. You need to build and grow. You will fnd your method of playing. Hopefuly without loosing too many villagers along the way. Good luck!

At later points in the game when tech point requirements are higher, I do leave them alone unless something bad has happened to them. You could start a 2nd tribe. That is what I did when I was waiting for my first tribe to do certain tasks.(being vague b/c no spoiler alert here)

I think that's why there's items to collect, so that even when there's no big thing to do, you can still play the game.

You're probably right, Atarah. Still, I find myself running all three games in paralell, with multiple tribes in 2 and 3. I check in morning and evening, and work with my tribes to keep them on the right track, but otherwise leave them to their own devices.

I'm generally not a fan of casual games, but the VV series has me trapped. I have other things to play when I can't get out to blow a couple of hours, but I keep coming back to 'my' villagers.
