Do the symbols found where the first key is ..up high, have any meaning...i have been trying to figure it out

I, too, was trying to decipher those symbols for the longest time. I even looked up alchemy symbols on wikipedia and others, but could not figure them out. In what way do you see those 3 herbs in those symbols??? I still don't see it.

The Cactus, Lotus, and Rose herbs.

no i have already finished the whole game..i was just wondering what those symbols meant

I always figured they had something to do with that gem but I couldn't figure it out. The symbols to me look like a sun, a basketball and a circle with other circles inside it. Don't see any connection other than sun and the cactus.

Maybe the sun-looking symbol is kinda like the cactus - it has "spikes' sticking out of it like cactus needles.

Not so sure about the circles and the bastketball - maybe the circles are kinda like a closed up rose bud (if you look at them from the top, the petals form concentric circles like the ones in the symbol). I guess the different sections of the basketball could be like the petals of the lotus.

the concentric circles represent a rose
the basketball represents a lotus bud
the circle with spikes coming out of it represents a cactus

That's how I saw it too, except I figured it was a rose and lotus right away, but I thought the spiky one was a tiger lily. When that didn't work, I used the cactus.
