I absolutely love this game, so much that I keep it running while on the charger in the car. I've noticed that the game makes sounds when I'm not playing. It's a sound that could only be described as "magical." I always look for something to have happened but there doesn't seem to be any change. Does this sound mean something, or is it just to remind you that the game is running?

We called that sound "mystery music" during the beta test. It will play every 3 minutes when the game is just running. If you switch screens, that resets the timer. Because of that, it can seem random enough to make you think it's signaling an event in the game. It took me awhile to figure it out!

That is a neat feature, I'm glad it was included!

I think the game sounds relate to an "event" in one of the tanks, generally a dead baby fish. I could be wrong but everytime I hear the music, there's a dead baby fish in one of the tanks.

I have found that, at least in fast mode, for every 2 sounds, ONE "day" goes by. Anyone else notice this?

Just to complicate things, it's different on the Palm and PPC versions of the game.

So, out of curiosity, which platform are you running it on that you determined it was a 3min timer with screen-switch reset?

The behavior that you describe is on the PPC platform. On the Palm it's still a 3-minute timer, but without the screen-switch reset.
