So I have the blue pearl but when I try to get the cheif to take it to the clam it says he doesn't have the right skills to finish it. He became cheif after the last one died and he was only six years old, I waited a long time for him to get older, he is fifteen now and still can't do it. What is wrong? Thanks very much in advance.

Note: "right skills." That is a clue to try a different villager with the right skills.

That is what is frustrating me, once the pearl has been washed off and is light blue and sitting by the waterfall area, then the cheif is supposed to be able to carry it over to the clam and get the black pearl right? Thats what I've read in strategy guides atleast.

I think it has to go to the science lab place to be polished first, then it will be carried over to the clam.

Every strategy guide that I'm aware of on LDW sites has the correct sequence. If you could give me a link to any guide on an LDW site that is missing the polishing step, we will get it corrected.
