Would somebody give me the names of the magic fish? I'm getting tired of playing but would like to see all 7 before I stop.

There are almost 100 different ways to breed that fish - too many to list here. But if you play around with breeding groupers, you'll be on the right track. If you need help with making them, you can use the Clever Arts site.

I find it odd that my magic fish of healing died. It was in a tank with only 4 others, so I don't think it was a crowding issue.. does the health of the magic fish relate to how you breed it?

A strong possibility is that you started breeding Magic Fish before you purchased Level 3 of Fish Environment. There is only one Magic Fish that will survive for long in the initial fish environment. Most hybrids will start to lose health at various rates in Level 1 Fish Environment until they finally die, and the more fragile hybrids will die before they reach age 6 in a Level 1 Fish Environment.

None of the Magic Fish are invincible. They will starve to death if you forget to feed them, and sickness can kill them, as well. Neither the Magic Fish of Health nor the Magic Fish of Curing will guarantee that you'll never have a sick fish, or that you don't have to cure fish that do become sick. They just reduce the incidence of disease and make it easier to heal fish that get sick.

Honestly, I bred it by mistake - and it died likely due to my research level (I'm at a 2 now) which I will remedy. I've been able to breed the Greenfin Spotanus with no issues at all, but I guess the other is a bit more finicky. Thanks for the tip!

According to the messages you receive when you discover each fish:

You discovered the Magic Fish of Curing! With this fish in your tank, sick fish have a better chance of being cured.

You discovered the Magic Fish of Health! With this fish in your tank, your fish tend to be healthier.

Actually, to breed all 441 possible fish you need only ANY two different ones with ANY different fin types. Thats really enough!

Actually, there are certain fins and bodies that can't be produced by breeding. They can be obtained only from eggs.

I wondered about twin fins! I've discovered 155 species, but have only ever seen one twin fin, my beloved twin fin fatfish.
I need the orange snooper. And I don't have any snoopers, nor have I seen one, I don't think. Of all the hours I've been playing, I only just discovered catfish and quicksilvers. I love this game!

The Golden Guppy's benefit as a Magic Fish is the fact that it sells for several times as much money as any other fish. Unlike the other 6 Magic Fish, it does not affect the other fish in the tank.

The Twin-Fin is one of a handful of fins and bodies that cannot be produced by breeding. The only way to get more Twin-Fins (apart from buying and hatching eggs) is to breed two Twin-Fin fishies.

I have observed that the tendency is to breed the same fish over and over, which can result in missing a lot of species! The only way I know of to avoid that is to adopt some sort of systematic breeding approach. If you don't want to resort to tracking your breeding on a spreadsheet or...gasp....on paper, you can use a simple approach that usually produces fishies that you've never seen before:

Make sure that you have level 3 of Fish Environment before you do this, since it will produce fish that can't survive in level 1 or level 2 Fish Environment. Start with a tank that has 20 fishies of various sorts, and have another empty tank. Pick one fish to be your "breeder" fishie and breed it with every other fish in the tank. Make sure to divide the pregnant fish evenly between the two tanks, so that you don't "lose" the babies. Once the offspring are born, sell all of the adults except your "breeder" and repeat the process with the offspring. Continue doing that with each successive generation until you start getting repeats, and then choose a different breeder for the next iteration of the process. You'll be surprised at how many new fishies you can discover that way. No tracking required!

Well, I've been breeding that way for a couple of days now and I have the following over and over again: comets, leaffish, fruitfish and groupers. Oh, and stickfish.
I think I'm going to sell everybody but the magic fish and buy new eggs.
Still need magic fish number 5!

If you put a shark or a spotanus into that mix, you'll start seeing a lot of different fishies!

Of course there are other ways to get the magic fish but this is how I got them.

#1: Canary Spotinus + Twinfin Spotinus = Greenfin Spotinus

#2: Canary Fire-Arrow + Greenfin Beta = Crimson Comet

#3: Orange Fatfish + Orange Fire-Arrow = Orange Snooper

#4: Canary Spotinus + Greenfin Fruitfish = Speckled Leaffish

#5: Spined Goldbulb + Wasp Goldbulb = Oriental Goldbulb

#6: Orange Stickfish + Pink Leaffish = Wasp Grouper

#7: Crimson Goldbulb + Pink Fatfish = Canary Fire-Arrow

This list has errors in it, and won't produce all of the Magic Fish.

I think I've always had the Greenfin Spot in either the first batch in a game, or the batch of common eggs that is supplied in a "tutorial" game.

I've noticed that too, that it's fairly easy to get the 1st Magic fish through initial eggs. I have a much harder time getting the Twinfin Spotanus in the Windows version though, whereas it was a quite a bit easier to get in the handheld version. Same fun, just slightly different strategies required.
