I accidentally left my village running overnight and returned to find one 7 year old boy near death. After a lot of attention I am happy to report he is now 21 and a master farmer, builder and researcher. Is there any chance that this game might send another villager to him - maybe a barrel of babies? Just wondering if there is any hope. Has anyone recovered from this situation yet?

Yes, many people have had this situation and many have managed to save their tribes. You can pray for an event that brings another villager. That's pretty much the only thing you can try now. Also, you should definitely read this real story by IBteri: http://virtualvillagers.com/fanfiction/hardtribe.pdfI hope your tribe will survive.

I am in the midst of a similar situation...a lone chief, who after an event became a 10 year old lone chief, was recently greeted by a canoe with another villager. An adept builder, a male adept builder, so my plight is not over yet...but I'm hanging in there, or should I say the villagers are hanging in there? Good Luck!

There is a way you can try and manipulate things to give you a better chance at getting an event that will save your tribe. It's not entirely without risk however, so be warned. I don't know how good of a food supply you've established, but hopefully it would be enough for your villagers to survive unattended for a day. First set your speed to slow and exit from the game entirely. Even when the game is not loaded on the computer, the clock ticks away for your tribe. What you then do is wait for 24 hours. I think that's how often you get an event, but maybe someone has timed it exactly. Anyway BEFORE you load up the game for the first time that day, you must make a backup folder for your savegame files. You can find instructions for that here: http://www.ldwforums.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/146371/page/1#Post146371Now when you load up your game, enough time should have passed for there to be a new event. The game is going to recognize that it's time for a new event, so as soon as the game is done loading, you're going to have an event pop up right away. If this event is not one you need to save your tribe, exit out of the game. Replace the current savegame files with the ones you backed up. Load up your VV game again. Because you have replaced the savegame files with the ones you backed up, the game is going to think you haven't experienced an event for that day yet, so as soon as it's loaded you're going to find yourself with another event. Since events are selected randomly, it most likely will be a different one than the one you just got moments ago. You could probably repeat this process quite a bit in hopes of getting an event that you really need to survive. I have also noticed that if I exited the game with a nursing child and loaded after enough time has passed for that child to no longer be nursing, that child will be running around as kids in the game do. However, if I end up reverting to the backup savegame files and load the game again, it rerolls the dice so to speak and I could end up with a kid of a different gender and look to the one I had previously. What I think happens is when the child is done nursing, the game at that point randomly selects the child's gender/looks (with some genetic rules) and clothes. When you reload the game in that fashion, you essentially making the game randomly choose the kid again and could end up with an entirely different child. This could be helpful in situations where you desperately need a baby to be of a certain gender in order to continue with the tribe.

Thanks for the support. Sadly Mauchu is now sick and there is no one to heal him. He is 38. I tried the potion to help a weakened villager but he is still sick. I have paused the game and will hope for a favorable event tomorrow. Today's event already happened - gained food not that he needed any. Any other ideas?

When I was in this situation I took a suggestion from Arnie and had my then lone chief make potions to improve health. I kept his health bar full enough to hang in there until someone else showed up to heal him. Now, my male chief and villager are still wandering about. The new villager has almost finished a hut...so that's good I suppose. But one thing was strange, when I checked them this morning they had fashioned a flag and renamed the island Brokeback? weird. Good Luck!

sorry to hear about that, it happened to me on VV2, and sadly by the time new villagers arrived, the woman was too old to expand the village. But here, i think you must wait about 4 hours, b/c thats how long i waited. I hope the best for you and your villagers

Thank you for all your positive thoughts. Today Machu found a Barrel of Babies! Two girls and a boy, even better they are 10 years old already. Machu is healed and well. He was 7 when I found him alone and near death on the island. Today he is 41. He had been sick since he was 28. There is always hope!

My guys are still hanging in there. They finished the second hut... ... they've set up some lawn-type chairs by the reef and have made a make-shift cooler to set between them. I overheard them today discussing how to rig up a hammock. I think they're going to raid a hut for fabrics! I'm a wreck...waiting and worrying.

I started a new tribe and accidentally forgot about it. When I came back I only had one little girl left. And seconds later I got the canoe event. I didn't even have time to wonder if I should continue or not! LOL

Oh! That is nice to be able to avoid that worry! I, on the other hand, am still patiently waiting...and waiting... . My, now 3, male villagers are still hanging out...building huts, catching crabs and fish and whatnot... tick tock, tick tock...

How nice to see the Isola gods have smiled upon Tessa! Maybe they will do the same for Bethlham as soon as they get done laughing...

Okay, my hard tribe saga continues...So, I knew I had a problem when my females turned 50...I had my remaining 5 guys fish til they dropped after I got an event that turned my chief 10 yrs old. When he reached about 30, the second time, he got a friend that came on a canoe. Then I got an event that twinned my chief. Now, I just got an event that turned the one who came on a canoe 10 yrs old...I should be happy right? What's up? I've had the same 2 villagers almost a century in tribal years... I should rename one Ponce de Leon. So, the guys are still just hanging out, though the twin keeps pulling sinister pranks like loosening the hammock ties and unscrewing the lawnchair legs...sigh... *jeopardy theme plays in the background*

Well, today is not a good day... The guys got together and took some of the collectibles and made a message in the sand saying 'BABES WELCOME!' but the sinister-chief-twin posted pics on the chalkboard and rearrainged the collectibles to read 'BABES WE EAT UM!' How will I ever get a barrel o' babies to land?

Bethlham I wish you and your tribe-of-one luck. Sadly, my Machu died a few days ago but he was happy. He had been made chief and was surrounded by his 10 children and two girlfriends. The tribe is doing well but miss Machu. They are now 27 strong with 2 jack of all trades and 11 estemed elders (the yougest ee is only 36). BTW who is left? Ponui or Ponce?

Your post brings me to a loss for words as I am reminded of my own Dad, real Dad , who struggled thru so much adversity in his life but became a tremendous success by his sole efforts and brought forth a large and devoted family who surrounded him with love and held his hands as he recently passed away. My family too, is doing well but also miss him very much as our first Father's Day without him approaches. That's probably TMI...sorry...in any case, unlike your Manchu my Dad only had 6 children and 1 girlfriend, my Mom, ... his one and only wife of 51 years. But similarly, thier sufferage brought forth a strong lineage that will endure indefinately.

Boo Yah! Oh yeah! Uh huh! Whoooo Hoooo! Yes, the tides brought another one of those barrels! Babies, babies, babies...three 10 year olds...two girls and one boy! And one of the girls is even blonde...sniff with joy...my first since VV3 release... After over 100 village years without a breedable female...survival is on the horizon...sniff, sniff...it brings tears to my eyes...sigh...there is nothing quite like the satisfaction of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you, Dr. Bethlham! I have a nasty cold/flu _bug_ and reading your saga has really cheered me up. What a roller coaster ride you have been on - here and in your real life - so it's nice to see adversity cannot touch your wonderful sense of humor! I sure feel sorry for those little girls in about 8 game years, though.
OT - My condolences on the loss of your dad. I lost a mom like that 2 years ago. Time heals, so just hang in there.

Thanks laurence! I love your circle of friends! That will be my tribe shortly! And a special thank you for :( I hope too he'll hang on!! Courage!! I read a quote, though I can't remember by whom, "Courage doesn't always come with a roar, sometimes it is a quiet whisper at the end of a day saying 'I will try again tomorrow'". Well, I think that perserverance worked here! And ledheadmelli, about those girls! I hope professional motherhood won't be considered cruelty! Well, with aromatherapy, flowers, candles, a lovely warm lavender bath, fresh seafood and a warm fire it can't be that bad. And I am so glad I was able to share humor with you. If adversity has taught me one thing it's that smiles are the meaning of life. OT-Thanks so much for the condolences...really...yours are the only public ones I've received. I felt a little 'posters remorse' thinking players don't want to hear that kind of stuff but my edit time had already passed by time I tried to delete it. I am sorry for your loss as well and I very much appreciate your encouragement. I never realized how much a broken heart could hurt...but I am tenacious and will persist, seeking the comfort time will bring. Thank you, truely.

Bethlham, I am so happy you got your barrel of babies. That is the event that saved my tribe too! It took some time but they are thriving and doing well. Sorry to read about your dad. I'm sure he is with you always in your heart.
