Hi -- I have only been playing the game for a little while and was wondering if anyone could offer any tips for selling these things.
Here's what's been happening -- I put the plant out for sale at a price say 10% higher than what it says it's "worth" on the main screen (I presume that's what that means); then I watch a bit the buyers going about ignoring it; and if I need cash I start panic discounting until someone buys it. Sometimes that's lower than what it was worth. Sometimes a plant with full price, and then some, gets snapped right up which confuses me no end.

I have one fountain and no money for anything else right now.

So does anyone have any tips for the best tactic in selling; the best way to price a plant; and how long to wait before discounting?
Suffering the same woes in fish tycoon too... although it's the plants that take longer to sell.

The more plants that you have available for sale in your nursery, the quicker they will go out the door. Also, the current health of the plant available for sale will also affect whether or not your customers are willing to buy the plant. I've discovered, that as long as the plants are healthy and you have a large number of plants available, selling will go well. Patience is the key to this. It definitely gets annoying when you're sitting on that one plant that no one seems to want, so either I just wait till I have more plants to sell or I'll just sit in the nursery screen waiting for some sweet customer to love the plant and take it home. Overall, I try not to mess too much with the pricing on the plant, at least I try not to lower it below the suggested price to begin with. Just have a little patience and you'll be okay. Definitely wait until the plant produces all of the seed possible (typically between 4-5) then sell it and continue to do this till you have money built up to buy better items. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions just ask!

That's excellent advice -- thankyou. My mistake I think was selling plants singly and getting impatient.
Is there an age when plants stop creating seeds? Or is it always, say, 7 years after first being pollinated.

It seems that the plants have a specific number of seeds they will produce, after that, they're done (not necessarily time based). Typically the plants will produce anywhere from 4-5 seeds.

Awesome advice. Well, what a difference a week makes. I just sold my first plant for $1000!

Wow, $1000 - I've only managed a $231 plant so far. Great game - but I think I need to start again and take notes, my breeding is a little on the erratic side.

I'm still learning this game as well. I play Village Sim, Fish Tycoon and Plant Tycoon. Maybe im taking on too much because in fish tycoon and plant tycoon i can really only manage to stay alive.

I just had a big break in fish tycoon and bred 2 magic groupers which i sold for a lot of money and bought my second tank. At least it was a lot to me lol like 100$ each. But even now i have to keep breeding the same 2 or 3 fish and selling them cause the common fish just arent worth it and all the other fish need vitamins just to last long enough to sell so what i make i end up spending in vitamins to keep them alive.

In Plant tycoon im not really understanding too much yet as i just jump in and out now and again.
-What age do they start being able to pollinate
-what age do they die roughly, i notice there is no speed setting in plant tycoon as well which makes it hard i came back ones and had 8 dead plants but yet i wait the same amount of time another day and everything is good and healthy. Its confusing.
-Does food play much of a role because the common plants dont seem to need food to survive or grow so whats the benefit, more flowers?
-should i breed the same type of flowers together that sell for higher price and not do any cross breeding to start? The first game i played i crossbred every flower with a different one and im still in the game but most of the flowers died, and the few that lived i sold for 3-5-$ each and bought more common seeds and insect spray and food. Still only have 17$ though. Guess im not good at gardening. Any help is appreciated lol

Plant Tycoon does have a speed setting. On the Palm, you simply click on the "Menu" icon to access the Game Menu. From there, select Preferences, and you'll be able to set your game speed. If you don't know where to find the "Menu" icon, you can check out the pictures in this post!

The plants are mature and can be pollinated, or used to pollinate other plants, when they reach age 24. Like the fish in Fish Tycoon, the plants don't die of old age, but you can kill them through neglect. The main benefit of plant food, as you suspected (and the shop description says), is more flowers (which makes the plants more valuable). The effect is most noticeable over several generations of fertilized plants. Cross-breeding plants before you have the better soils will create hybrids that cannot live in the soil that you have at the start of the game (similar to Fish Environment and fragile hybrids in Fish Tycoon). There are (just as in Fish Tycoon) common plants that will sell for good prices (some sell for more than $40). All you have to do is find them and breed them to finance all of those necessary upgrades. There are a lot more varieties of plants to discover in Plant Tycoon!

It would also be a good idea that if a plant's original value is $100 or up, you should use the insta-grow. That way, you can pollinate it, sell it, whatever.

No sooner did i mention i was having no luck than i wake up this morning and have 2 magic plants in my nursery. Sweet now im getting somewhere and fast. The price of my plants is growing nicely too. I have all the upgraded soil and water already so im crossbreeding like a mad man. The odds of finding two at the same time in the same batch of plants, what are the odds?! I found the two plants on the right side of the fountain i forget what they were i was in a rush this morning to get to work
