Just started VV3 today. In the beginning of the game I was able to get the tribe to gather honey. Now after fixing a hut, no one will. They all refuse repeatedly. HELP!! My only source of food so far. Tree is still growing.

Hmm....Have you run out?

The villagers won't gather honey when there isn't anything to gather. Click on the hive and see how much is there. You might also be interested in this post, which has some survival tips.

Is the hive out of honey? If it is you just have to keep on waiting. Try looking for mushrooms especially after it rains.
