How am I supposed to get a builder to work on statue puzzle? All the huts are built, the bath, rubble and leaves are all cleared.

They can fix huts. Drop a villager on a completed hut and make sure that their action is "Fixing hut." There is also something you can do in the alchemy lab, but this isn't a spoiler thread. You can see the guides section for information about that.
